I feel like I have the whiniest dogs on the face of the earth. Regardless of how much exercise and/or mental stimulation they've had they are big fat whiny asses. Are we doing something wrong? I guess I should clarify that it's mostly when the entire family is not in the room together. They are not fans of being separated from each other or us for any amount of time whatsoever unless it's bedtime.
I feel like this means I'm not doing a good job of raising independent fur children ... .
Ohmygosh, I thought we were the only ones! Coop is literally laying next to me right now whining for absolutely no reason other then that Im not petting him!! He's not a velcro dog, not in the least! He's just always been a whiner! Nothing we did or do seems to change that! & he's 8!! I will say I think the whining has actually decreased a noticeable amount since we got Taylor....no idea why. They don't play, not at all, she's too old Lol. But tonight is really the 1st time in a long time I've heard him whining...or maybe I just don't hear it anymore ;D & its just b/c he's not getting what he wants right now. Huh, wouldn't ya know it, 1/2 way thru typing this post he quit! Must be getting more mature...finally!! GL! & HTH to know you are not alone!
The only time that she doesn't whine is when the three of us (me, her and H) are all sitting in the same room. If one of us gets up, even to go to the kitchen, she follows to see if we're doing something more fun unless if the other person is actively petting her or playing with her. If one of us leaves then she whines for a few minutes and then settles right down.
Kai doesn't whine, but she makes these noises like she's trying to say "How dare you get up and move around from one room to another. I will NOT have it!". When DH was trying to put the Christmas decorations up in the outside storage shed, she did not like him going in and out of the house. I had to tell her to cut that shit out.

Roxie whines when H or I are gone. Typically it's immediately after one of us leaves and she will stop after awhile. She also whines like crazy if H is outside, like taking out the trash, and she can see him but not get to him. And she whines when she wants something we aren't giving her (like table food, etc.)

Ha! Is a collie hairy? Poe does not whine but Jackson will freaking whine in his sleep! He also whines for attention, whines out of boredom, whines for dinner, whines of out nerves....He also whines from his crate in the car if I drive too fast, change lanes too fast or get distracted. He's the fun and safety police.
