I may be alone in feeling this way, but I really felt like all the cooking blogs killed the nest cooking forum.
Years ago it was a really helpful place with tons of recipes. There were tons of posts with a new recipe and a discussion about it. Then for a while it was awful and filled with nothing but "Blog Update" - "click to see!" It improved with the consolidation of blog updates. But I still got frustrated because so many posts on that board just sent you to a blog -- that's great for an individual recipe that I want to bookmark, but it's super annoying if someone asks for a great, say, lasagna recipe, and all the responses just link to their blog. I'm not clicking on 7 different blogs to read the recipes and decide which one I like best. If the posts gave at least an ingredient list, then I could click on the 2 or 3 that interest me.
A specific weekly or daily blog update post is different. I'm referring to the rest of the posts :-)

Hmm, well we could make blog the sub board both blog related questions and the blog updates if that would be better. Since this is cooking AND entertaining that might be good in case we start getting a lot of other entertaining. I feel like the sub board would still be mostly blog updates anyway, and it might be nice to have them all together so it is easier to browse through them, as well.

Frankly, a lot of times recipe requests are really open-ended. Lasagna recipe? Sure, do you want a meat lasagna, a veggie lasagna, a white lasagna, a low-carb lasagna, etc.? I think that's why people often just link to their blog's "lasagna" category.
Plus, I've seen a lot of people say that their blogs are blocked at their work, so they can't post a direct link, so they'll say "I've got one in my blog...link in sig." They're trying to be helpful.

I agree. I know posters were probably trying to be helpful, but if someone posts a very specific request (i.e., I'm looking for a chicken marinade for grilling, any suggestions?), it's not helpful to get 5 responses that say "Check out my blog's chicken tag!" I don't want to wade through 75 posts about chicken that may or may not be marinated or grilled - just a recipe or list of ingredients would be great.

I agree with this. I know EI was slow, but there was a time when it was all blog updates or the responses were "Check my blog."
As for the open ended question, it's easy enough to reply asking the OP for a more specific idea.

On the other board, if someone asked for a specific recipe (say chocolate chip cookie), I just posted a link to my blog. Not because I'm trying to get blog hits, but because it was so much easier to just C&P the link as opposed to the entire ingredient list and directions, plus I didn't have to worry about formatting it so it would post correctly on The Nest.
Also, if someone posted a blog in response to one of my questions, I found it much easier to bookmark that blog rather than the Nest thread, and then wonder later on which response was the one that sounded good.
And I just think it's kind of dickish to dictate HOW people respond to your questions. "I want lasagna recipes but you have to post the actual recipe in the thread! No blog links!"
With the proboards being so much less glitchy, it might be super easy to C&P recipes and photos without worrying about formatting disasters. It also seems so much more personal that responding with a link to a blog.

I liked seeing the daily blog post with the pictures. And I think it's okay to give a link to a specific recipe when someone is looking for one. I find it annoying when I ask for a chicken enchilada recipe and get someone's entire Mexican tag list.
I hope some of the veteran WC ladies come over here too.

I was an occasional poster on the other board. I really enjoyed the daily blog updates. I also liked that they were starting a weekly CSA checkin with what you got and ideas on how to use the ingredients.

The board sort of changed with the blog updates right before the Nest became a huge mess. It was one post/day for blog updates vs. everyone making a separate post about their blog updates, which I thought was nice and really cleaned up the board for other posts.
As a blogger I'm genuinely curious, what's the big deal about posting a link to a recipe (from a blog) vs. copying/pasting the recipe? Do you prefer not to read blogs or is it a matter of not wanting to give that blogger a hit on their site?

I don't mind clicking on a recipe to a blog, I just don't like sorting through tabs on blogs or searching a blog if I'm looking for one particular recipe.
My understanding is that people didn't like being directed to a blog in general, or to a tab in a blog when they asked for a particular recipe. I.e. people didn't like posting, "Hey, I want a recipe for low fat grilled chicken recipes"and then getting a "See my blog, TIA!" as a response. Some people may want entire recipes posted, but I think the general issue was with just getting, "See blog" responses.
Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, I can understand that then. :-)
