We currently only have one nightstand in our bedroom. It was H's long before we got married. It's super sturdy old school Ethan Allan, but ugly. Anyway....the nightstand is on H's side of the bed, so he is in charge of the alarm clock (turning it on, off, snooze). It goes off once at 6:00am and he hits snooze, which is cool, but it never went off again! This is the 5th time this has happened. He somehow turns off the alarm clock, so when I get up and look at the clock it's 6:45, leaving me only 30 min to get myself and a toddler ready. Of course H only needs to brush his teeth and get dressed in the morning, which only takes 5 minutes, so if he wakes up at 6:45 it's NBD because he can leave at 6:50 and still be to work on time. GRRRR! I've been wanting a PAIR of nightstands forever so I don't have to rely on him for the alarm clock. Sure, sure the rational solution is I could just move it to my side of the bed, but I don't feel like being rational. I want a flucking pair of nightstands. Of course my local craigslist is full of ridiculous over priced JUNK. Not a damn thing I would consider buying, even for the right price. So, I'm heading to a few local second hand shops this weekend to hopefully pick up something halfway decent for $100 or so. If not, I'm dragging H's ass to the furniture store. The end.

Our alarm clock is on my hs side too and I hate it because i have to get up walk around the bed just to shut it off. I feel your pain at least your lucky enough to have room for 2.

We have barely enough room for 2. I'm going to have to bring a tape measure with me when shopping to what will fit. Argh.
Oh no! That really stinks. I hated relying on H's alarm when we only had space for 1 nightstand. Now we have space for two, but like you we have one lonely one until we can find a set that works (or I guess until we make our bedroom a priority - which may never happen).
I've started using my phone as an alarm. I get up quite a bit earlier than H, so it was merciful on him and convenient for me to just start using my phone.
We only have one end table that matches the rest of the BR furniture. It was mine before I got married. I got a second smaller one at Target that works perfectly.
Definitely get a second alarm clock or use your phone as a backup. If I depended on DH's alarm to wake me up I'd be hours late for work every single day!
can you use your cell phone as a back up alarm clock? or at least in the meantime? I would be pissed to wake up so late too.
Eh, I try not to rely too heavily on my cell for anything. It's not a nice fancy smart phone, just a basic texting type phone. I usually keep my phone in my purse when I go to bed because I don't want to have to try to remember to grab one more thing in the morning. If I had it in the bedroom, chances are I'd forget about it when I'm getting ready and leave without it creating another problem. LOL.
I wish we had two night stands too! Ours is DH's from before we were married as well. It is actually nice and I like it but it is discontinued so we can't get another one. He doesn't want to buy two nightstands when we already have one but it is a really weird orangey light cherry finish that has proven to be impossible to find something that coordinates (two dressers are the same color as well). I think we just need to get two black ones but he doesn't want to spend the money. So, I took his nightstand for my side. This also has its drawbacks like today when he had to be at work earlier so I had to set the alarm for earlier and man it...

You know, I'm sure it's frowned upon, but my poor ass bought some from Wal-Mart. And they baaaaarely fit in the new bedroom. I have to kind of turn sideways to walk into my bathroom. But I'm not changing it.
