I started Norgestimate and Ethinyl Estradiol which I believe are the generic of Ortho - TRI-cyclin. I am super bloated all the time and have managed to gain 4 lbs despite my usual workout of 3 to 4 days a week. I've also still been on a 1400 calorie diet. Trying to continue to lose 1 lb a week.
I've been on this med for close to 3 weeks. I'm getting blotchy break outs, weight gain and bloat.
Anyone have any other suggestions of B/C pills I could talk to my Dr. about.

Drink more water. The BCP is tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant right now, so just wait it out for a bit. Why are you taking BCP if you're leaving your husband?
Generic BCP's always made me break out. I'm already chunky so I didn't notice any bloating. If you get on the brand name stuff, it might not do that. However, your insurance may not like you using brand name. You could just try different BCP's until you get one you like. But since you more than likely won't be having sexy time, I would just go off of it. I actually felt better without BCP. But it's your call.
First, I would give it some time to regulate in your system and see if you're still gaining weight. If you do end up continuing to gain weight, talk to your doctor about switching pills. Every pill has a different reaction to each person. FWIW, I take Loestrin24Fe and I've never had any weight gain from it.

Well, I never intend on ever having kids again. Infact If I could, I'd have my tubes tied already. But when I do start having sex again I want to be prepared.
Have you considered the implant, an IUD or injections? Something more long-term?
I really haven't considered that, but honestly that might be the best thing for me. I think I'll need to make another appointment with my Dr and see about some kind of long term solution.

BC pills always messed with me in a variety of ways, from weight gain to acne to major mood issues. I got an IUD 6 years ago (on my second now) and it was the best decision ever. It's not for everyone, but it is a miracle for me.
Yeah, if you are sure you don't want to get PG anytime soon (or maybe ever), I'd look into an IUD for sure. It is more up-front cost, but it lasts for years with none of the side effects you are having on the pill.

If you know you never want kids again and are not even sexually active at this point (and hopefully wont be for a while so you can figure out your life, right?) then starting BCP right now seems like a huge waste of money and effort. Look into the Essure procedure, which is permanent sterilization but an in-office procedure. Then, when you are ready to start dating again, use condoms to protect against STDs.

I just started NuvaRing a few months ago (not a pill, obviously, but easy BC) and it's been great - I haven't had any weird side effects, bloating, etc.
