SO glad tomorrow is Friday!
QOTD: I usually leave it to the last minute if it's just a weekend away, but with big international trips I write packing lists and start a week or 2 in advance - just to make sure I don't miss anything that dd may need while we're there!!!

Good morning!! Not much is happening here. I've got a pan of pecan pie bars in the oven (they should be ready in about an hour if anyone wants to come over and share
QOTD: Usually I'll start organizing for a long trip a week or so before, just so I know if I need to get anything and make sure the clothes I may want to take are clean. But I don't actually pack until the night before/morning I leave.
I had a really good run this morning, for some reason Thursday and Friday are my best running days (maybe because I know the weekend is so close?). I work today, I hope the rain will hold off so the kids can get some outdoor time.
Summer has taken a holiday and the rain is back... We have a referendum to vote in today - will Ireland accept the new European Fiscal Treaty? Yes or No...
QOTD: It used to be the day before or morning of. Now though with N I tend to start the planning a little earlier and get laundry done and put away so that she has some clean clothes to wear!
Morning! I am feeling somewhat refreshed this morning since I got more sleep last night than the night before. Now I am just playing with Kernel and putting off washing dishes. Ugh.
I am also trying to figure out why my blenders (hand-held and regular) aren't working. They worked fine in Madrid!
Other than that I plan to run some errands and hopefully have a fairl lazy day.
QOTD: Usually I start getting ready about a week before if it's a long trip. For short one or two day trips I pack the night before.

Morning! Very excited as I'm wrapping up my first issue of my magazine today at work! It's been a pain in the ass at times but i'm happy it's almost finished! Tonight we're probably heading out to have dinner and drinks with friends, yay ME weekend!
QOTD: About a week before I try to make a list and then inevitably I put everything in the night before (or day of - depending on what time we're traveling)
QOTD: 1-2 days in advance. My H is 30 min to an hour before he has to leave. I do all the packing because my head would explode waiting until that late.

Good morning! I am annoyed bc I have come down with a nasty cold and I have an oral exam tomorrow morning. Ughhh. And I only have like 1/2 a dose of nyquil left, hopefully that will be enough to help me sleep! BUT, after that exam, my semester is over! woohoo!
QOTD: I lay out a few things a few days beforehand, but that's only bc my DH starts packing like AT LEAST a week before we leave, and it stresses me out. And I can only pack non-clothes items ahead of time. I do most of my packing the night before we leave, and throw the last items in 10 min before we leave. I'm usually not a last-minute person, but I can't pack too far in advance. I stress over having to decide what to wear so far in advance. So, when we're leaving in a few hours, I don't have time to think about it and I just have to decide. That's the only way I can do it.
Great. I've done a lot of socializing this week with new friends in Paris and gotten a lot of QT with DH, to boot. So all feels very, very "right" this week and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the world.
QOTD: Depends on where I am going and for how long. Usually a couple of days in advance. But if I am jetting off for a long time and will be in different climates, etc. (like when I combined Italy & Russia in the same 4-week trip), then I'll start packing a little sooner. And if I am going to Cuba, then I start packing as soon as I know I am going. Since I have only ever flown there from the U.S., I have to follow all the embargo rules about how many pounds of meds v. personal items I can take and all other kinds of stupid stuff, so I need to be super, super organized about everything. Plus, with DD in tow, I need to make sure I don't forget anything that can't just be bought for her when I land.

I can't wait for the long weekend (in UK). Really, just can't wait. It's insanely busy here at school as we wind down for the end of year - and things just keep exploding, one after the other. I need down time and soon.
QOTD: I make a list about a week in advanced (usually on a weekend when I can do it in a relaxed manner) and then pack a night or two in advance. Most of my trips are to locations where I could buy something if I forget to pack it.

Hola!!!
When my alarm went off this morning, I really thought it was Friday. I dont work on Fridsays, so I was happy at the idea of going back to sleep. But then I realized it was only Thursday and managed to drag myself out of bed. I have an hour before I go back to work so I went home to have my "second" breakfast. It is way to early to eat lunch but I was starving.
QOTD: I like to have things packed two days before so that I am not super stressed but it never happens and I am usually packing until midnight.
Besides the while car mechanic thing, today seema good: )
qotd: depends on what time I fly, how ling I'll be gone for and whether there'll be a washer/dryer there. Day and a half before if long trip/ no W/D. Our before leaving if jyst a weekend and U know rhe weather.
Things are kinda crazy. I have to finish a chapter before Friday and we have friends who are working in the area and sort of visiting us inn free hours. I was half way out of the shower when they showed up at my door. We went into town and had an early lunch and now I have to finish my writing before they come back for dinner. I am making an easy meal though of pasta with spicy sausage, caprese salad, and bread with aioli and some red wine. I also have to help a friend register at his new school somewhere in between everything in the late afternoon. I have no zest to work on the dissertation but... just have to. Oh and there's a pile of dishes still in the kitchen from last night. A chaotic day that I expect to get a lot better around dinner time!
QOTD: I usually start packing the day before but for really long or extremely exciting trips sometimes a little earlier;)
Good morning all! The weather seems to be nice today so that's good. I'm going to have the morning to myself and have to go on with the music learning plan I made myself, I'm a few pages behind. Then tonight we decided to carry our dinner up on the rooftop and eat as we bathe in the view of gorgeous Manhattan. Should be fun!
QOTD: I'm crazy and start packing 2-3 weeks in advance. I start by making detailed lists for my luggage, his luggage and the carry-ons. We leave in less than two weeks and things like the bathing suits, the fancy outfits, guides, magazines for the flights etc are already in place I also started the packing list for my trip to Rome (in August). See, crazy!

Good morning! It's a dreary, rainy day here, so I'm going to try to get some work done. Better today than tomorrow, though, when I'm supposed to go work at a garage sale (and try to sell some of my 3 million books) in the morning.
QOTD: As with everyone else, for short trips I'm more of a last minute packer and for international trips I start a week or two in advance.
Turtle, I'm intrigued by your "kits of stuff" comments. What do you mean?

Crimson, I do a variety of things. I keep a kit of baby-related travel things. One is a bag of baby medicines since I've found I usually need the things late at night, one is baby toiletries. When I was formula feeding, I also had a kit of things for washing the bottles (bottle brush, a kitchen towel to dry the bottles on and dish soap), bib, and there was space in there for the bottles and food.
My H and I have separate toiletries bags ready to go. We have our own toothpaste, shampoo... because he often has to go out of town for work so it's easier for us to just keep things separate. I also have a small picnic kit (some plasticware, napkins) if I think I'm going to be able to go on a picnic.
At my craziest/most organized part of life I also had a small kit for summer vacation needs (tanning stuff, beach things) and winter stuff (scarves, hats - we lived in FL so only needed those items if we were going on vacation). I also have a backpack filled with travel-sized items/toiletries that are categorized in different ziploc bags so that I can refill things as needed. There's a first aid kit, leftover currency from some of our previous vacations, things to do on a long flight, a bag with chargers... I can't remember what else is in there now. I went through it a while ago and got rid of the stuff I knew I wouldn't really use.
Basically the idea is that all I have to do is pack the clothes and grab the relevant kits.
