A friend of mine just posted on FB asking people to post something "positive" that happened today to counteract the "negativity" of the shootings that took place in Seattle today.
And then she posted a link to a story about a couple who gave a waiter $5k when something happened to his car.
Really? Does one cancel the other out??
The truest good news I have at the moment is that one of the shooting victims, who graduated from the same culinary program as my son, is out of surgery and expected to survive. I'm tempted to post this in response, but I don't think it's fairy-dust-positive enough.
Damn the fairy dust, I posted my truest good news. Counting down to being chided for bringing in a reminder of today's events from one of her very "positive" friends.
I don't think it cancels anything out, and I seriously doubt that the poster actually thought that. For me, it is important to find the good in humanity when all I can see is the bad. Because there is good. I don't see a damn thing wrong with the FB post.
Dev - you're probably right. This friend is part of a multi-level marketing group that is militantly "positive", and it's affected my reaction when I see that word.
