I'd call first. DH went without me one time and they said I had to be there too. The next time, we went together and they didn't even acknowledge my presence. Our vehicles have "OR" titles, so I'm not sure what the fuss was about.
Regarding the comment above... ID or not, no decals = visitor lane here
Yeah, just make sure you bring your POA and 2 forms of ID with you. You need both ID's anyways though because they usually ask for your milID and your license, plus registration and insurance proof for the car(s).
Yup, as long as you have a POA, vehicle stuff, and your ID. It's not a big deal. Honestly, some posts won't even renew them anymore since they are moving towards a "no sticker" post/base.
I got POA for H's last deployment but not for these shorter underways. Is there a time frame on the old one or can I still use it?
Only if he specifically put one in. My POAs don't expire, but we gave H's parents one to do something for our rental property and we specifically put an expiration date in that one.
Every POA I have had has only been good for one year. It could just be H's command and old base, but we were told they aren't doing non-expiring ones because they SM can be screwed by it.
ETA: More than likely though most people on base don't check the expiration date of it. I've only had it checked for big things, like the mortgage, buying the house, etc.

I did on Camp Pendleton and on the Navy base here... by myself. All I needed was military ID and drivers license and proof of insurance. No issue at all. Separate times, different bases, heck, different branches.

lol, it never occurred to me to bring him. It only ends up mattering if he needs a special additional sticker that I'm not eligible for. I just leave that part up to him.

The verdict- I was able to get them without him there and without POA. All I needed was license, mil ID, registration, proof of insurance. She also asked for vehicle safety inspection info- I had taken a picture of that sticker before I left.
