K and I are going out tonight. Originally it was from 4pm-8pm but now we're going to an event that is 8pm-11pm. I have a sitter willing to be at the house at 4pm.
Do I still have the sitter come over at 4pm and just use the extra hours to sleep/clean/grocery shop? Or do I save the $ and tell her to come over closer to 8pm?
The sitter is JB's favorite teacher who just recently left her school. JB is sooo excited to have this teacher coming over. She woke up talking about all of the things they were going to do together. Part of me thinks I should have the teacher come early just so DD can play with her.
But that's an extra $40. Is a nap and some cleaning time worth $40?
I'd split the difference and have her come at 6. That will give them time to play before JB's bedtime, but also give you time to get ready without JB underfoot.

I just can't get over the fact that you can get a good babysitter for $10/hour! Wow!!
Okay, I know that's not answering your question. Ummm... Does the sitter know about the later end time yet? I'd start there and then ask if she'd still be willing to come at 5:30 or so. And if her coming at 4 would mean you could nap (and she's willing to be there 4-11? 11:30?), then heck yes it's worth it! $10 an hour is a steal for sleep!!
