I'm helping my mom again on her basement Saturday. Hopefully my part will be done. I hoping to do some sewing and enjoy my last few days on vacation so no organizing/decluttering here. I hit it hard on Monday/Tuesday though and our small house feels pretty good for what it is.
I haven't seen some of it in years, (some I have missed, some not, and most we have just been too busy to get out), and there is a ton of it. DH is going to pull it all out of the garage and I am going to sort it and pull stuff to donate straight to boxes on the front porch. I will go through the ornaments that are stored inside the house after we clear some space for them in the garage.
ETA: Done! At least with everything except the ornaments. I am not sure how well organized it is, because DH finished up when I went to meet a client, but I went through it all, purged a fair amount and organized the big bins with all of our trees. Our porch is full of boxes and bags of stuff to donate. We gave our next door neighbor a bunch of Christmas lights for his house, and I left it up to DH to decide which of the others to keep. I think he only kept a few decorative indoor only strands and the luminarias and decided to start fresh this year.
I went through Halloween decor and got rid of most of it. I even gave away the greenery from my dogs' Venus Fly Trap Halloween costumes to the client that I was meeting. She can find a way to use them as scenery for a show at her dance school, and will gladly take any of the costume related stuff that I want to send her way.

I get a three day weekend (yay coworker!) but I'm spending my Saturday at a birthday party, so I plan on trying to get my closet cleaned out -- take out the remaining maternity items, stuff that doesn't fit, ect and then hang up the new stuff I got recently and take stock of what I have so I can spend the remainder of my Christmas money. I think I may be able to get that stuff done on Sunday and can spend Monday shopping with my boys!
It's my birthday so I don't have to do anything I don't want to!
BUT I think I will do something. I have some things I've been meaning to hang on the walls so they are creating piles and need to just get done so that's my modest weekend goal.
Happy birthday pitterwoo! My modest goal is to pull up all the rugs and Bona mop all the wood floors. I did two rooms last weekend, only two and a hallway left to go.
Update: Well, 50% is better than 0% right? Luckily I have tomorrow off, so I hope to finish then.
Mine is going to be purging clothes and packing. I guess I can take pics of purge boxes and packed boxes. LOL! I just packed 3 boxes of shoes. All my flats and pumps are packed up and I am only keeping 3 pairs boots out to wear with everything!
..Oh just looked up above on the screen.. Happy Birthday pitterwoo!
Okay, this is my first time participating in the weekend challenge post. So I'd better get these things done!
1) Organize our master bathroom linen closet. We currently have too much of everything in there, and neither of us ever wants to hunt through it for what we need, so we buy more. Fixing that this weekend.
2) Organize the purses in my closet and find some arrangement that makes them exist in less space than they currently do.
2b) Remove undergarments from currently overflowing dresser drawer and move into some kind of (to be purchased) storage container in the closet. Use empty drawer to store workout clothes instead of having them in the closet.
We did it! There are some more things we have to do, but the hard part is done.
Before (don't judge - we have a SMALL house and this is pretty much our only storage and two little boys have a lot of crap. Plus, we've been a bit lazy lately :/)
After:
Yea, we still have some more work to do, but it is soooo much better and my DS loves it. We know have a better place to do our arts and crafts!
Can I add my challenge and progress at the same time?
Goals were to get DD's too-small clothes sorted out (done!), get some donation stuff out of the garage (just have to take a crib and a carseat to the BRU trade in today), and get shelves up in the office (they're up, just need to put stuff on them, it's mostly still in boxes from moving in June *-)).
I've also done some cleaning, and sorted out baby stuff we can and can't use for this baby.
Take down the Christmas decorations. (Don't judge me!)
Did it Saturday evening! Actually got R to help, too (he is really resistant to taking down the decorations, usually), but I pointed out that we needed to have them down before we got busy in the new house (hopefully) and he was all "oh, you're right. Let's do it, then!"
I need to buy a new house more often. Man is all motivated.

Oh my word, theintended, that looks awesome!! I really like the lighting underneath the cabinets.
Thanks, ladies, for the comments on our new play space. There is some furniture on the right in the after shot that will be moved and some electronics that are being recycled, so that will make a difference. On the other side (where I am was standing to take the pic) is where we will put those chairs and is also where our laundry and bathroom are, so it should be a pretty nice space soon. Well, as nice as unfinished basements go anyway.
These challenges have been VERY helpful. Even my H agrees, but he did laugh when he asked what we get if we complete the challenge and I said a badge in my siggy
I didn't get everything done that I wanted, but I did clean out and reorganize the front closet; relocate some of the things in the linen closet and organize that; and organize DS's closet with the things relocated from the linen closet (mainly games and art supplies). Next up I'm going to clean and organize the storage baskets on the entry shelves.
I need to do a major purge of items in every room of the house, but at least I got a little accomplished!
well, you are putting me to shame. My goal of hanging up dishes on the wall in my dining room moved forward, but didn't get done. Whew, hanging stuff is so HARD.
yep, I forget how H got it, but it was one of the few man things that I was cool with keeping in the house. now, the traffic light...that had to go to the garage.

OMG, Pitter, I always find that I relate and agree with your posts and then I see the propeller. We have one, too!! Are you going to hang it? I would love to, but can't figure out how to do it safely.

Cool, sailorgray, where do you have your prop? Mounting it is a longer term plan. There's a double door opening between the living room and dining room and I'd like to hang it above that on the dining room side.
Since hanging stuff is the bane of my existence I'm not sure when I'll look at it seriously. I've looked at those rubber coated hooks and thought there might be a way to use them.

I forgot pictures, but I did get my clothes sorted out. Half a huge moving box from Sam's for Goodwill, a small box of stuff that I fit, but not well and will need to retry on in a few months (since I couldn't get into them just 2 months ago) and then a box of trash.
