27 weeks. They usually only do it that early if you have had GD in a previous pregnancy or some other risk factors. The only downside is that even if you pass you will have to take the test again later because GD often does not show up until later in pregnancy.
I have no history of diabetes in my family. My doctor in the States did test my sugars a year or so ago to see if I was headed that way, but I was good.
I will find out next week if I failed/passed my GD test at my doctors appointment.
I hope I don't fail. My doctor already wants me to lose weight and told me to cut out sugar (bread, pasta, crossiants, juice with sugar, sugar in my coffee, etc), which has been hard enough to follow (I have been doing okay with it) and I can't imagine more restrictions.
interesting, yeah it is a late 2nd tri test here in the states. I took mine about 27 weeks.
I was 272 and 5'6 when I got pregnant and lost about 20lbs in the first 20 weeks, gained some back and was at 257 earlier this week. I didn't do anything to try to lose weight it just happened. Combo of nausea in the first trimester, drinking fewer calories (soda), and my total aversion to baked goods/sweets!

Yeah I haven't had m/s and I still love my sweets . I did just get off my depression meds that I have taken since 2005 (Welbutrin/Zoloft) so maybe some weight will come off with being off those.

If you've already been trying to cut those things out, it really wouldn't be that difficult to follow a GD diet. I had a much easier time with it than I thought. Just have to space things out, and limit/balance the carb intake with proteins.
Well I haven't had too much problem with some things, but EVERYTHING seems to have added sugar. The lactose in milk turns to sugar, ketup has sugar (had cravings for hotdogs recently), cereal (even Special K has it which is the only adult cereal here), yogurt (even the natural stuff), peanut butter (I had to import some natural stuff from the States) etc. Those are the little things that have made it hard. I was able to find whole wheat noodles here in Spain, which wasn't easy so once in awhile I get pasta at home.
There is a bakery below our apartment and I smell baked goods all day long...it is a killer. I miss you chocolate crossiant

26 weeks first pregnancy. I failed spectacularly. As in no 3 hour go directly to diabetic. And 8 weeks with the second pregnancy. Which I, also, failed.
Mine is set for next week @ 28w. Can't waaaaaaaaait. /sarcasm.
I have hypoglycemia, but it has not affected me AT ALL during this pg, and I've also lost weight in the 1st tri (up 2# total now), so here's hoping I pass!

My mom is a diabetic and so my doctor wanted to do it twice because I was at a higher risk for GD. I had it once around 12w when I was having other bloodwork done anyway. Had it again around 28w.
