"Third-Party Reproduction"

I have never heard that term before, but that is the name of the new Nest board for anyone using donor sperm, donor eggs, a gestational carrier, etc. I seem to remember that the Nest is pretty receptive to input on board names so I assume it was named that at the request of those who wanted the board. Is that a common term/phrase and I've just never heard it?

I guess they wanted a way to bridge the gap between straight, gay and single folks having babies through these methods. I know some ladies from "our" board would hang out on TTTC, and we def had some visits from straight ladies who had to use donor sperm because of an issue with their male partner's fertility. So while it sounds kinda weird at first glance - I bet they are looking to create a space where everyone, regardless of relationship type or sexuality can talk about the ins and outs of making a family with a third party. Seems like a nice idea - wonder if the board will catch on.

Oh yeah, I think the board is a great idea. There is a lot of commonality in the issues faced. I've just never heard that term before.

Yeah, I don't think I have either. I would guess they were just trying to come up with a good umbrella term.

I've heard that term elsewhere, but can't remember where specifically. But it's definitely not a bump creation. It's a good idea for a board though.

There was talk on the mod board about it. The ladies on TTC and some of the other IF boards voted on the name.
