Guys...girls...whatever. I've been looking for a Jenny Lind bed for a year now for my daughter's little girl room. She's turning 2 in April so I just recently decided to forget about the jenny lind and have my step dad make her one for her birthday. My mom found one today and is driving 2 hours to get it for me!!!! It's not the exact style I had in mind (like the land of nod one) but I think it's pretty freakin' awesome! I am so beyond excited! It's an old antique one so it takes a 3/4 mattress which sucks balls. They are giving us a foam mattress that they have for it but I'm a little queezy when it comes to used mattresses. I did find 2 websites that sell them. I just wanted to share:
Call around to local matress stores, not the big box kind. We found someone to make a bassenet matress for us for the same price as the standard sizes in the stores.
So cute! If you want more Jenny Lind style stuff....Overstock is full of it. Of course it's all knockofs but it's the same concept. They had tons when I bought Rubes' crib. There was a bed I wanted for me actually. Hmm..I wonder if they still have it! And yeah, call a local furniture store, they can often order you a 3/4s mattress.

jhawks I'm completely torn. I have a black crib for her right now and everything else is white and I hate that it's black. My whole vision is to have a white bed but this bed is an antique and I'm sure I can clean it up really nice so I'm kind of scared to paint it. I know it will look awesome white but I guess I'll find out today how much I like it's current state.

justdairy...do you have a link with the overstock style stuff? I checked quick but didn't come up with anything. I'm thinking maybe I can get her a matching nightstand.
with all that detail, it would be fun painted even a pretty aqua, pink, light green, sage or soft yellow (depending on where your tastes go). but, if you don't want a pop of color to come from the bed, i like just painting it white (esp. since the other furniture is white....but that is also why i thought pop of color).
ETA: btw, i think it is a fun bed for a little girl's room!
Since it is an antique, I probably would give it a good cleaning and restore the finish. I think mixing the wood and white furniture could be a nice combo.
