There is a house that smells strongly of either a deep fryer or fast food every time I go past it. I always wonder if it is some single guy who just likes fried crap or a family and they eat that stuff for dinner every night.
There is another house that always reeks like pot. Surprisingly, not the same house as the one previously mentioned.
There is a block that is bizarrely cold compared to the other blocks. It's like running into a walk-in freezer. My only guess is that it is situated exactly right so the wind blows down it with no obstruction, but I am really not sure what the deal is.
I run past a pot smelling house too. No matter what time of day, someones in there smoking.
I hate itmwhen i run past a house and i can smell dryer sheets from the dryer exhaust. The houses are fairly close to the street here, so its pretty common on my weekend runs. Ugh, it smells so,aeful, so strong.
I love it when i can smell people grillingnwhen im out running over, the summer.
I love the dryer houses! They always smell so clean and warm and cozy
My favorite is running past houses with dogs who bark from inside. It always makes me laugh to think about how my little run is like the highlight of their hour. "Ooh, a runner! She's coming this way! Better let her know I'm here! Ha! I showed her! She's running away! Good dog!"

I don't run, but when I'm out walking with the dogs, I notice stuff like that too. Every time we go out, there's a house that smells like Italian food! No pot smokers that I know of, but I do love the smell of dryer sheets. We don't use them at home (skin allergies) so it's such a treat smelling other people's laundry, lol.
I think I'm a dryer sheet house. Our vent is right above our garage door.
I run by 3 grocery stores on my long runs, and one of the three ALWAYS smells like fresh donuts. Torture.
There used to be a Krispy Kreme store not too far from our house, and on the days when the wind was blowing just right, you could smell the fresh, warm donuts. I was thankful when they closed up shop!
One of the few things I miss about running was the ability to watch things in my neighborhood. I'm not a nosy type at all, but there is value is knowing what's going on in your neighborhood, seeing who the people are that live there, etc..

The pot house is several blocks away from the fried food house, with a park in between. Does seem odd that there is no connection, they should probably all be friends.

Haha I think things like that too. Then, if I hear a dog getting yelled at, I always feel bad if I know I'll be passing by again.
I love in the summer when people are out cutting their lawns. For some reason, I have no sense of smell most of the time, but running must really get things open for me so I love all of the things I can only smell during runs.
I run near a winery, and there is always a yeast-y smell. This confuses me, because it smells like running in Milwaukee (if the wind was from the west.)

This made me LOL... My dog does exactly this. She sits on the top of the chair with her head out of the blinds just waiting for someone or something to go past her. She barks at everything -- people / cats / dogs / the wind!
