The last three nights in a row my kid has woken up screaming because she soaked one leg of her jamma pants. When I get up to change her, though, the diaper isn't really wet, just a little damp. At night she usually wears a Kawaii one size with an insert plus a prefold diaper. The last couple of nights they've had Velcro closures.
I was worried that maybe her diapers weren't absorbent any more and needed to be stripped or something, but the diapers she wears during the day (Smartipants and BumGenius) haven't had any leaks. Since everything gets washed together, I don't think it's how I washed them.
No idea. Did you use a different type of overnight cream? The inserts getting just a little wet seems to me that it's a repelling issue. You'll need to strip them, then you should be fine.

I did the drop of water thing pixy mentioned when I got home and it absorbed into the lining. Same diaper that was barely damp last night. So not repelling? Strip anyway and see what happens?
Do you strip the diapers when they're clean or dirty?

I thought clean, but I was really hoping you'd say otherwise.
I didn't test the insert b/c I wasn't sure which one it was. BUT last night's night night diaper worked without issue. Still Kawaiis, but snaps instead of Velcro. Is it possible that the Velcro has just given up it's ghost and is making them gap?
(Can you tell how much I really want the solution to not involve stripping the diapers? )
