I know a lot of you ladies wear the diva cup and was wondering if anyone had any issues in the full body scanners. I'm flying out of BWI to MCO this weekend and was hoping you ladies can reassure me that wearing it through either airport won't be an issue. Thanks!
No idea if you can see it on a airport scanner, but I know you can see it on a CT scan. BTDT, had to explain tot he CT tech that it wasn't a tampon. Should have just answered yes when she asked if I had a tampon in.

Yeah, they're removing backscatter x-ray scanners, but keeping millimeter wave detection scanners. Diva cup definitely does not show up on the millimeter wave scanners, although they almost always flag my hair as suspicious.

Your...pubic hair? *-)
LOL, no! My hair, on my head. And I don't have Texas big hair or anything, they just always flag me as needing to feel up my my head before I can go through.

this was my thought too... thanks for clearing that up!

This happens to me on almost all of my flights. I have no idea why. I have flat, boring hair.

I think that it just kind of shows as hotspots things that might be suspicious and then they check those areas with a handheld scanner. At least, that is what happened when I last flew. The picture that showed up on the screen had a highlighted hotspot behind my knee, and the guy ran the scanner over it, and that was it.
I'm not sure how a diva cup would be any different than a tampon in regard to going through a body scanner. If they can see it, I'm sure the assumption would be the same either way. And, if not, you can always have a fun conversation with the TSA agent about what it is.

This hasn't happened the last few times, but it used to happen to me all of the time. I have less than two inches of hair on my head. One time, I guess it didn't show up right away, and I was already getting my stuff and the TSA agent started patting down my hair without saying anything at first. I was ready to turn around and go off on whoever this "hair patter" was, until I realized it was a TSA agent.
I really do not understand this. You know the scanners aren't MRI machines right? They don't actually see INSIDE you. Just through your clothes. You vagina, in this situation, is totally safe from government interference.

I love the addition of "in this situation" to the above post.

I don't think this question is that weird...I know when they first rolled out the scanners there was talk about them possibly being able to see tampon strings. I don't know if that was ever verified, but if that's true, it's possible, though unlikely, they could see the stem of the cup if it was sitting super low.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

The string is still outside your body. The scanner can for sure see a pad, which is also outside. The stem of a cup isn't supposed to stick out of your body. Like I said before, unless you've got some metal jammed up in there, the TSA isn't going to hassle you about it.
