The secretary is all pearl clutchy about it. I don't get it. If I had to listen to nothing but phones ringing and my office clock ticking for 8 hours, I'd go postal

yes often, in that I have music and movement time daily with the kids where we do 2-3 songs from such musical legends as Dr. Jean, Mar Harmon, and Greg and Steve.
but if I had a desk job, I wouldn't listen to music.
Nope, I can't focus with music. In fact, my handyman told me last week "You don't really like music, do you?". That's when I realized my house ia always silent during te day (when I WAH). At work, same thing...
I pretty much always have music on in my office. When I used to have a shared workspace, I kept my earbuds in almost constantly, just to keep people from wanting to talk to me all the time. ;P

Spotify all day, every day. I would go entirely bonkers without music - at work, at home, in the car, on the train - I basically ALWAYS have music or radio news on.

On my prep I do (I teach). So yes for about 45 min. of the day. We used to not be allowed to stream music online because it slowed the whole server down. Then this summer they did something magical with the Internet (lol I am technology clueless) so streaming doesn't slow it down anymore. Hello, Pandora!
I will also occasionally play music quietly during student work time if they ask for it, usually instrumental stuff like VSQ or at Christmas time, I played holiday music. I have to be careful to have no swears.
Pandora is blocked at work, so I just use regular internet radio. Our building gets horrible radio reception. If I had an mp3 player I would probably use that. I find I'm more productive when I have music playing in the background.
We have a radio that plays in the office. It's the same station, every day, that plays the same music... every day. Sometime I'll put on pandora at my desk.

i teach also and have to be careful of the Pandora stations we listen to. you can change an option in the settings to remove explicit content. one time a lingerie ad was up on my screen when I was listening to holiday music on Pandora and I was very thankful that none of my students saw the ad. After that I found the setting to turn off explicit content and had not had an issue since.
No. Just this morning I was listening to Mumford & Sons in the car and wished I could keep listening in the office. Everyone always keeps their office doors open so it'd be too much of a distraction.
eta: and I'm afraid that wearing headphones would make me look like even more of a slacker than I already am. lol.
Yes, often. They have music piped through most of the building. They rarely change the Sirius station and it gets very monotonous.
At one desk (I have two - one upstairs, one down), I have the piped music. The other, they provide a regular ol' radio because there's no piped music. I occasionally turn it off.
I created a "student playlist" on my iPod that I let play continuously on low throughout the day. As 6th graders, they have more than a few opinions about my taste in music, but after a while they come around to Jack Johnson and The Samples.
