I heard that too but I clean my toilets often enough that I don't have water rings or lime scale. The toilet pics they show on those "look it's amazing!" pins are so nasty. I've also heard Coca Cola works
We bought a foreclosure that still had a ton of water in the toilets. I think it was supposed to be drained when they closed up the house, but now we just have nasty looking toilets.
We have super hard water with manganese and so far the only cleaner that I've found that really cleans our toilet (which, when it was bad rivaled gas station bathrooms for stains) is a bowl cleaner called "The Works." I have no clue who manufactures it, but I found it at our local Kroger. I imagine it probably has terrible chemicals and is ruining the local watershed, but my toilet is really sparkly clean now.

We had really really hard water in our old house, and it didn't matter how muc you scrubbed, it built up. I wish I had asked you guys what to do to clean it.

I wasn't calling you dirty I swear! haha
Backtracking! LOL. I just wanted to clear up any misconceptions.
lol. our water is super hard. 2013 is going to be the year of the water softener for us.
I think our water softener helps, but we still have some issues.
Whatever house we end up buying, we're going for a whole-house filter along with the water softener. Our water is so hard and mineral-y it is ridiculous.

That would be great. Our previous home didn't have a water softener, but we added the whole house filter and that helped us get the potentially iron-like crap out of the water. The two combined would be great!

I am so over scraping, soaking and scrubbing hard water residue off of everything. I'm sure that both combined will not fully solve the issue because of the local water quality, but it will definitely make life so much better. The house we rent has so many plumbing issues related to just the hardwater build up; it is frustrating.
