Yeah, this was how I started my morning - In between my alarm going off...& me hitting the snooze button about 6x & over the fan we have in our bedroom, I heard Coopers high-pitched whine/yip/...thing he does when he's in the backyard & chasing a squirrel or whatever. I kept hearing it so I finally got up out of bed to see wtf was going on out there & why MH wasn't watching him (he was supposed to have walked Coop).
I get to the patio door, & I see MH standing on the other side of the chain linked fence that borders our backyard (which is totally fenced in) holding Cooper by the collar. So I stand there for a minute totally perplexed & MH says "uh, can you give us a little help here" So I wander through the backyard in my pajamas...w/o a bra on (yeah, we live in the city, we have close neighbors).
MH has to lift Cooper (65lbs) over the fence (4.5ft high) & hand him to me (Im super short so the top of the fence comes up to like my armpits), I set him down on the grass & he bolts away from me, goes back to the fence & literally army crawls under the damn thing!! There literally is NO gap there either!!MH has to grab him again & pick him up & give him to me again. This time I put him down & lead him by the collar inside the house...where he proceeds to run around the house/stand at the patio door whining & yipping...
We have NO idea wtf was in the neighbors yard!! They have a pool & have a huge wood deck built up around the whole thing, there has to be a nest or something under there, & whatever the nest is of's parent was in our yard & Cooper chased it thru the yard & under the fence
The most hilarious part, DH says to me once we're in the house "yeah, I only said your name twice" Um....yeah, I didn't hear that at all even though our window was open & our room faces the backyard! I just got up to see wtf the fuss was about! Haha

Yikes! Glad you caught him. My dogs have been going crazy about all the animals that are out and about. E almost lost him mind about a little bunny in our neighbors yard last night. If he could have gotten over or under the fence he certainly would have!

GSPs must be able to dislocate all their joints because Toby did something similar once. At a friend's place, one corner of a yard was missing about 3 feet of fence but there was a pile of chairs, old bikes, wheelbarrow, random junk, etc... blocking it (classy, right?). The dogs that had lived there never got out so we figured it was secure enough to let him run around while we were grilling. He wiggled his way through all of it & snuck out the tiniest little hole - 6"x6" tops - on the other side twice in one afternoon.
