Yes, we are those people who enroll our dog in crazy shit like agility training. I am sad that I was not able to go to class last night because I was at a talk given by my Ph.D. advisor. But H said Biscuit kicked agility training's ass. LOL. Biscuit freaking loves running through the tunnel and jumping hurdles. Also, the instructor told H about earthdog trials, and now I am intrigued. classic.akc.org/events/earthdog/PetPartners.pdf
That's awesome. I wish we had started my one dog on this when he was young bc he is so fast. He could have also done the jump things pretty well I think.
We used to think Sadie would love agility, until we realized she has doggy ADD, lol. Even outside she has a hard time concentrating on catch b/c OMG there's a bird, squirrel, imaginary shadow somewhere.
I wish we had a dog park that had some of that stuff where we could just try her out on it.
Awesome! Where does he go for classes? We had Murphy enrolled in agility, and he loved it. His listening improved leaps and bounds, and he got much better around other dogs.

Same place as he goes for daycare. H said they brought in an agility trainer for the class.

Carmensandiego and I have both used Canine PhD in Inman Park. I've done private lessons and group classes. If you're ever looking for other classes to take, you should check them out. She even offers a dog CSI course.
Before pregnancy, I did agility with my Brittany. She loved it! DH is still training our chccolate Lab. When baby is a bit older, he'll probably start competing with her, like I did with the Brittany.

All of my dogs have done agility and loved it. I usually do classes during the winter to get them some exersize. I did a scent training class with my hound mix this fall she had a blast. It is so great when they really get it, they are so excited!
Ahhhhhh I love Biscuit! I didn't know he won his race in October. Yay Biscuit!
Maddie is a slow runner and totally has dog ADD so she'd probably suck at something like this, but I'd be curious to give it a shot anyway. It sounds so cool!
That is so freakin cool!! We want to enroll Kai in something like this, but I think we need to go to some refresher training for obedience first. She totally has doggy ADD and won't recall for shit if we're outside. But, to be fair, we never took her to class when we adopted her b/c she was already trained by her previous owner and we didn't have the money at the time.
I would love to do this with my dog. In his regular class they'd sometimes do an obstacle at the end of class. One time Murphy turned around in the tunnel and came out and started tearing around the room with a huge boner. Class was then over

Agility is awesome and a great way to build up that bond with your dog. We do agility with our pit and it helps him to learn to focus on us. He has fear of other dogs and is able to be in the room with other dogs getting a positive experience which helps with his ability to be around the other dogs. So it's great for things other than just agility!
Besides this he is super fast and has a blast on the course.

Biscuit does have a bit of doggie ADD when he's outside. He's a scent hound and would rather smell EVERY BLADE OF GRASS than chase a ball outside. He was somehow able to focus long enough to win the outdoor race. Luckily the agility class is inside.
