Yeah honestly I don't think I made the right call. They already knew it was possible after the miso AE thing happened, but if I hadn't said that it was a reg they probably would have dropped it. I feel bad about it.

And like I said there, I only know about the harassment/trolls when they get reported. I don't really keep up with ML enough to know what's going on otherwise, so I only see that stuff when it is brought to my attention. This one was reported three times plus I got 5 messages about it.

To me, it's similar to the n word in which I will allow those who are of said descent apply it as they wish and I'm just going to go over here and use the wording I know to be unoffensive.

But at the same time, it's nothing like the n word at all so please don't mistake me. I'm only referring to my comfort level in using it. I've only heard Jew used by non Jews either dripping with disdain or straight up dismissal so I'm not comfortable using it myself.

Here's where I'd be concerned about the outing thing. It looks like the agreement as it stands is that it's up to the board mods to decide but that an AE created to harass someone is a reason to out them. An AE created for the purpose of asking for help is not a reason to out someone.

What happens when an AE inevitably posts something asking for advice and some posters think CPS should be notified based on what she types? Or the police? Will that be a good enough reason to out the AE? I think we need to figure out what is and isn't acceptable, stat.

I think everyone just needs to be sure to hide their info when making AEs so that we never have to know. Like now people are asking me to out hoobsboobs, but I can't because whoever that is hid their shit so I have no clue who it is.

I do think there needs to be a rule. And I think it should probably be that AEs are never outed, honestly. We should just apply the same TOS rules to them as we apply to everyone else - so if you AE under your own IP and get banned then your regular account gets banned, too. That sort of thing.

The harassment angle is almost non-negotiable. Since we are on the proboards radar we can't have someone reporting us. We could be shut down. Being famous has it's consequences. I can see pulling an AE faster if it's been reported multiple times. Ultimately it should be the mods on the board that are making the call, but with ML I can see being trigger shy to do so.

i dont know if you are saying you can see me personally creating an ae to call someone out. i would call anyone out under my own name. i posted as an ae in the past to get advice on personal issues

Yeah it's a pretty gray area but the abuse dept typically errs on the side of caution & asks us to remove basically everything that is reported to them OR ELSE (dun dun dunnn).

I live in an area where people say all kinds of racist and bigoted shit in an offhand manner or regular tone. It's hard to express on the internet. Around here there's a world of difference between the nice Jewish lady next door who brings over latkes and that Jew down the street who's dog is always getting out.
