Oh shit! The couple of times I wanted to stop the cycle a couple mins in & the door wouldn't unlock drove me nuts. I'd be freaking if it just randomly locked/wouldn't start.
I got home from a trip around 11 pm last night. I leave the country for 2 weeks at 4 am Friday morning.
90% of the clothing I planned to take on this trip is locked inside my washing machine. Which will not start. But also will not open. I am working from home tomorrow, but I'm not sure I can get it fixed before I leave.
Also, I share the laundry with my tenant ( when I asked him about this he was like "oh yeah, it's been doing that recently but then it will randomly start."). So if it doesn't randomly start working/doesn't get fixed he won't be able to do laundry for 2 weeks. Because H is out of the country and won't be back for at least 3 weeks.
I have a strong suspicion that I am buying 15 new pairs of underwear and a bunch of other clothes tomorrow evening. And that I'm buying a new washer/dryer.
Not what I was hoping for in my 48 hours home this week.
Did you try flipping the fuse? It still has power (e.g., lights are on, etc)?
I'm just throwing this out there, but have you tried unplugging it for a few minutes and then trying again? Also is the circuit breaker tripped? This was the cause when DH said our dryer was broken. Sorry, that stinks.
I can empathize. This happened to me while living in a foreign country last year (bonus: the only set of sheets I owned there were in the wash!). Fortunately a couple of hours of Googling variations of the machine brand and "stuck door" led me to a workaround (removing a panel and then pulling a very hidden latch). I hope you can get yours figured out somehow.
