I am so tired of the dust and fine particles from clumping cat litter.
Going to try the newspaper kind of cat litter. Does anyone have any suggestions on specific brands of cat litter from recycled newspaper? Good or bad experiences?
I can't make any suggestions, but I'm curious to see if anyone can help. I use fresh step clumping. It's wonderful because it never ever smells, BUT I'm so tired of sweeping it up and finding litter all over. Ugh. I'd be worried of stinky litter with a paper type...hmmm..

I don't use newspaper but I'll go ahead and recommend my favorite litter
I LOVE the Breeze litterbox system. No dust or small particles, and the pieces are large and solid enough that only a couple make their way out of the box. You just scoop out the poop and the pee runs down onto a pee pad. I have 2 cats and only have to replace the pad weekly, and the pellets every 1.5-2 months. There is no odor except immediately after they poo.
Some cats may not like the litter, and if your cat has loose stool it can be messy. But it is SO convenient for me!

Do you need to add pellets as you scoop the poop ? I can't understand how the pellets can last almost 2 months!? Because I have to add regular litter every few days after scooping. I've never seen this before, but I'm interested!
Exactly what you said you weren't going to use, but try Inodore/Odour Buster. It's a clay clumping cat litter, but it's absolutely fantastic at controlling odour, and clumps quite well. The only dust I find is from pouring the litter into the box, and even then there's not much of that.
We tried so many litters because our cat had horrendous poops, and this was the only one that actually worked well.

Only a couple pellets actually stick to the poop (for my cats, at least) and it comes with a slotted scoop so most just fall back into the box- so it takes a long time for the volume of pellets decrease. I just replace it when it starts to look low or the pellets look dirty by dumping out the whole box, wipe it down, then pour in a whole new bag.

I've been wanting to try the Breeze system. I currently use a pine litter. Usually EquisiCat since it's cheaper than Feline Pine. My cats adjusted well to it. The only part that stinks is when the pine disintegrates, it gets stuck on their paws & they can track it around.

It's the tracking that is driving me nuts. See above re: huge hairy paws.
I posted months ago about this and someone recommended the Breeze System so I decided to give it a try. I agree with the PP, it's by far the best litter system. No more dust or tracking and controls the smell. I love it...well as much as you can love a litter box. Just the fact of no more litter being tracked everywhere makes it worth every penny.
The system itself is usually on sale at Pet Smart, and I've since begun ordering the litter pads and pellets in bulk from Amazon. I also have 2 cats and have to change the pad every 6 or 7 days and the pellets about every 1 1/2 months.

lots of animal shelters near me are starting to use wood pellets, like the kind you burn in a pellet stove. They are cheap, turn to dust/clump when wet, and the ones that aren't wet don't track.
I wouldn't use them, since I like putting the remainder of a bag of pellets in a hod next to the stove and I don't need the cat peeing in them - but something to consider.

I use pine pellets as well. Actually, I use Equine bedding, which is the same as Feline Pine, but $8.00 for 40lbs. If you switch, do so gradually, adding a little at a time.
I also bought a second litter box and drilled a whole lot of holes in it and put it in the other ltitle box. This way all the dust drips into the pan below it and my cat no longer tracks saw dust through the house. feline pine makes a special litter box, but it didn't look like a good box overall.
