I'd like to get these off my mind...
1. I'd bet money that the topic of the second YHL book will be a compilation of their housecrashings. In other words, they'll publish pictures of other people's houses.
2. If they protest that they don't make any money off the book (and I tend to believe this), do you think they make lots of money off of the Shades of Light deal and the Benjamin Moore deal?
3. Did Katie Bower just do those 2 posts on the bagster thing because YHL did it? It seems like Katie stated she did get compensation from them for the product/post, but I remember YHL saying that they did all of that on their own (right?) with no compensation. Do you like YHL lied? There is too much overlap on those two blogs for it to be a coincidence.
/randoms
Oohhh, I forgot to add one:
4. Why, if they are on the West coast at the moment on their book tour, are they not going to Alt Summit? That seems like blogger mecca, and I am surprised they don't appear to be attending.
1. Did they get a two book deal? I don't really follow them anymore. I would rather see original work in a book, no matter the author myself.
2. I have no idea how the publishing world works. I think they must make enough to keep their income up enough to not work office jobs.
3. I think Katie got compensation, but YHL didn't. I think in this house they said they were doing any perked stuff, just giveaways. I know that's been mentioned before.
Well, hopefully they'll get releases for the photos. I'm assuming their publisher would force that. I'm sure a lot of the people they've featured (particularly the bloggers) would eat up the attention.
Have they said they didn't make money off the book?
I don't think they would have made lots of money off the BM deal, but I'd think the SoL deal would have netted them some good money.
I rarely look at either blog, but in particular, I don't look at Katie's blog. I don't even care enough to critique.

I think they originally said it was a 2-book deal.
Even with small profit margins, I think the book has sold enough to make them some money.
I kind of think they're dumb for not taking compensation. They just have to be completely clear about it. Oh, and that reminds me, they couldn't have been compensated because it's an FCC violation (or something) to not disclose that they were compensated (paid, perked, etc) in exchange for a post. They're smart enough to not get themselves in hot water.

One more question I forgot, ladies:
4. Why, if they are on the West coast at the moment on their book tour, are they not going to Alt Summit? That seems like blogger mecca, and I am surprised they don't appear to be attending.
I don't think they're bloggers who regularly go to all the conferences. I'm pretty sure Haven was their first.
While this is true, it is odd they wouldn't schedule a book stop where a ton of bloggers will be. That would have been a crazy amount of blog coverage for them. (other's blogs, to be clear)

Do they have a book deal for #2? I don't recall them mentioning this.

Probably not lots of money, but I would imagine a small amount up front and a portion of the revenues

I don't think they lied because the FCC requires disclosure. I think Bagster just offered it up to Katie Bower. I've actually seen the Bagster on a few other blogs, so I think it's like any other company that promotes itself through bloggers (e.g. Frog Tape, True Value, etc.).

I don't think they do blogger conferences. They went to Haven because they were invited to speak. It almost seems like if the spotlight isn't be on them, they can't be bothered with it.

Yeah I've never quite understood it, but it was the feeling I gathered based on their discussions about Haven. It would seem like a great networking tool.

I could understand when Clara was younger not wanting to travel, but they're already traveling. All the style, DIY and mommy bloggers at Alt Summit would eat up their book and post about it as a highlight of their trip. (I'm just guessing. It wouldn't be a highlight for me.)

Oooh good point! Maybe they weren't specifically invited, so they wouldn't want to be there. (It would still be good to go.)
