At the beginning of October 2012, DH went from working full time for a company to being an independent contractor for this company. Because we've relocated across the country, we haven't been on top of figuring out how much DH would need to submit for his taxes on his own...and, because the change happened in the middle of a year, it's kind of confusing when we have attempted to figure out what to pay the IRS in quarterly taxes. We have been setting aside a lot of his paycheck to cover taxes though, so the money is there.
So, anyone have any experience? Suggestions on how to estimate what he might owe for being a self employed individual for only a quarter of 2012?
Put it all into turbo tax. Seriously, it's thorough and will give you a better idea since it is hard to say without knowing a lot more about your overall income and tax picture.
