I moved what was on our table the other night (a candle latern) over by the TV because it looks better and I was tired of it...stuff on the table in general.
Now I have nothing. I kind of like it as I really cuts down on the visual clutter and seems to keep an open shot from one big set of windows to the other. It also really shows off the pretty lines of the table (the quality is horrid..lol...but it looks good!)
It's also great not have to move junk everytime I need the table.
However, I'm open to something new, I just don't know what. I'm so tired of the vase filler and candle in a jar look and already have that going on elsewhere.
Thoughts, suggestions? Tablecloths are out...too much work to keep clean and it's never straight with people in and out all day. H thinks I should get a plant. Any recs for something that's pretty, likes a lot of light but is easy to maintain. I don't do plants real well!
Thanks girls! I might just leave it then! I had this illusion you all had your tables perfectly decorated all the time. Glad I'm not alone. It's just too much work for our lifestyle right now to keep a table pretty. Maybe I'll run across something cool in the spring.
I have a faux potted succulent inside a clear aqua bell jar thing (does that even make sense?). The succulent is from Home Goods and the jar is from Crate & Barrel (clearance find, woot!).
No, not the table for me either. We only have the dining room (no kitchen table) so if I do want to do a centerpiece thing I put it on the buffet behind the table.

We don't keep anything on our table most of the time. Occasionally we'll have a platter with cookies or something, but most of the time my kitchen and DR tables are bare.
We always keep green apples at the center of our kitchen table. It's not a new idea but it always looks fresh and it's easy for us to grab a healthy snack.

I took away centerpiece stuff a few months ago on both my kitchen and dining room table and don't miss it at all. Whenever we had to use the table it only got in the way.

Boiler that's very cute! It's kind of what I was looking for. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm thinking maybe a plant like that in a cool container. Easy on, Easy off!
We don't have anything. I agree with you - it seems like less visual clutter. If it's going to rain, I bring in my pot of living rocks and put that on the table, but otherwise nothing.
I have a silver bowl with bright green fake apples inside it. Our dining room is black and silver with greyish-purple walls, so that bright green really pops when you walk in. It's fairly small and doesn't overwhelm the table.
