As I've mentioned countless times, we've just moved. This is not a sudden, surprise move. It's not a move that happened with orders cut for DH with barely enough time to get our crap packed up before he had to report at the new duty station. Nope, we knew months ago about this move, and the exact timing of this move.
In fact, every one of our moves since we got married has been relatively predictable, schedule-wise (as predictable as the army gets, anyways).
And yet, not _once_ has DH's pay been properly handled for our moves. Nor has it been properly handled for the outbound or homebound side of a deployment, either. You would think that the finance folks would be used to this stuff...
For some reason, they are paying DH for things they shouldn't be paying him for, and not paying him for other things they should be. And other things are being paid at the wrong rate. It means (I think - DH just let me know it was screwed up so I haven't seen the numbers) about $1500 will be missing from this paycheck. It's not the biggest mistake Finance has made with DH's pay, but it isn't the smallest, either. There really isn't a mechanism to fix DH's pay until the next paycheck, mid-month Feb.
Thankfully we have savings. Goodness knows how I'd handle crap like this without.
Yay for efund! That is super annoying. I often experience something similar with our HR and payroll. My place of employment has been around for 90 years, yet things happen and they act like there is no protocol nor have they experienced it before. I don't get it.
That was one of my biggest complaints when DH was active duty. Even without a move, we would still have random screw ups. I felt like we had to scrutinize every LES and those things are a pain to read!
It is not much better in the reserves, but at least it is not our main source of income.
Hope everything works out for you (relatively) quickly.
