This is the description of a Living Social deal that a local company has for $50. Is this worth it? I know nothing about duct cleaning but this seems rather superficial.
"Includes the cleaning of an unlimited number of vents, one main duct, one return vent, chimney inspection, one access panel, air duct deodorizer, and dryer vent up to six feet"
Yes. We had a coupon for basically same gor about $40. Don't let them upsale you and uou don't want/need any mold treatment they might say you need. That's a load of BS.
Careful though. We bought a groupon that was similar and they kept canceling and no-showing. We finally just hired another company. I'm going to have to try to get a refund now :-(
We paid $200 for 8 vents I think. However, make sure they run a vacuum all the way back to the furnace. Our dryer vent was e extra. Sounds a little too good to me.
I used a Living Social deal with a local company a few years back that I think was around $100 off the regular price. We had been in our house a year and just knowing that it had been renovated and was a rental prior to that, we thought it might be good to have them cleaned, just not knowing what kind of crap could be in the ducts. It was a pretty easy process. They did point out a couple mold spots on a wall that we were able to clean but fortunately there wasn't an existing source for the mold. They didn't try to upsell anything that I recall but they did tell me they recommend having it done once a year. I have asthma and allergies and even I think that's excessive. I can see maybe every 3-5 years but not every year. We are clean people.
