I stopped bc and am super excited and hopeful. If we find ourselves with a BFP soon, timing would be amazing all around. I know a lot of people find that a bad plan, but I think my job would be really tough if I missed a busy season so I'm going to at least try to align when we start. I know they can't discriminate but let's face it; they can and will find any other reason.
I have a sort of obsessive personality - like, whatever I'm into I am REALLY into and struggle to focus elsewhere. So I spend way too much time looking at baby stuff.
I don't think it's a bad plan. I planned around my work's busy season. It worked our really well for me. If it ened up that I was on ML or pg during the busy time, meh oh well, but it was simply easier to avoid that. No shame.

I'm pretty sure everybody with a job that waxes and wanes predictably (CPA's, teachers, etc) at least tries to plan around their job to maximize maternity leave downtime.
I mean, sure, you can't control every little detail, but there's nothing weird or wrong with trying to aim for a specific time as long as you don't let it make you crazy if it doesn't work out right away.

My confession: We're starting TTC in April. Why? Because then the worst months are during my swim off-season. I can swim through 1st and 2nd trimester, but I'm not sure I will want to be competitive during the 3rd. So I'm hopeful that I can get KU and pop out a kid before August of next year.

I feel like I get to AW this right here (21 wks at USMS Nationals). They gave me two patches for the race - one for me and one for baby.
How was the competitive PG swimming? How long were you able to go (in weeks, I guess)? How did it affect your swimming? What events? OMG, I possibly have 800 questions for you. LOL
Mine is occupied with my fourth & final kiddo (all girls!). My EDD is technically April 10 but I'll be induced on or around 37wks (March 20th). I'm 30wks today

asdfjkl - I'm pretty sure your 200 backstroke time is approximately the same as my race-pace 200 free time, so no judgement on slowness here. I suck at flip-turns and fully own that my in-pool swims are WAY slower than my open water stuff. My race plan for this year includes a 5k race at the beginning of October, so it's good to hear that you were at least able to be reasonably competitive at that point. (I have no delusions of grandeur for this race, but I think the 5k will be safer than the 2.4 I had originally planned due to less competitor kicking, grabbing, etc. Plus R can be my kayak escort, so that's nice.) I'm sure I'll have a billion more questions as things progress. Can I send PMs as questions arise?

My ute is not now, nor is it likely to become, occupied. We are, however, in the process of adopting an infant. No clue when that'll be happening, but we're working on our home study materials now, so hopefully within the next year or so.
9 weeks left occupied! Maybe less because he's a fatty and 79th percentile for weight!
Ha, I'll see your 79th percentile and raise you a head that's in the 96th percentile! Yes, my womb renter has a head that measures three weeks ahead. I'm super excited about that, lemme tell you.
Merida- totally planned my pregnancy based on work and wanting a spring baby. Truthfully it was planned by year and then month work wise. I was on a huge project and just couldn't imagine going out on ML before it was over the hurdle.

Glad to know I'm not the only one trying to time things
If TTC worked this cycle my EDD would be a couple weeks after the busy season. Plus, a CW in my small group confided that she's going to try in the late spring. I'm hoping to get KU at least 12 weeks before her so there's no pressure for me to come back faster.

If you are interested in having an anonymous TTC buddy let me know I wonder if we are in the same field? I have seen you on GP. I most just read the but I posted twice.
Abosolutely. The end of the fiscal year (Sept 30th) is a crazy time for us. Feel free to PM me or chat about TTC. The GP board is pretty quiet (I think the subboard for trouble TTC is busier but I don't really qualify for posting there).
Are you temping? Have you read TCOYF ("Taking Charge of your Fertility")?
