We will be heading down to FL soon for a week & a half. We'll be staying with my parents. My mom borrowed a PnP & high chair from a friend. We will be bringing the car seat & stroller. My mom is buying baby food, diapers & wipes. What else do I need? How much clothes should I bring for him? Shorts? Long pants? Sweatshirts? Heavy PJs or cotton ones? Lots of toys? Books?
Any advice? Thoughts to make the plane ride easier?
Bring new toys on the plane he hasn't played with before. They will keep him entertained longer than toys he has already seen.
Our weather had been odd lately. We can have a nice sunny day and then the next day it is rather chilly ( well to a Floridian 50s is chilly/cold) I would bring an assortments of sleepers but mainly cotton ones. Bring him outfits you can layer so depending on the weather you can add or subtract layers.
Yes variety is where it's at. One day I have Amelia in long sleeves, fleece pants and socks and yesterday she was running barefoot in a tank and shorts. Just think light layers with one warm sweatshirt. She always wears footies to bed even when it's warm out because then the ac is on.
My suggestion for the plane is lots of snacks. When we flew to FL with Ellie in December (she had just turned 8 months) she sat on my lap and ate Puffs for like an hour and a half. God bless those Puffs.
It also is probably too late for this, and it's a crapshoot anyway, but when we flew we booked the aisle and window in our row and hoped nobody would take the middle. Nobody did and it was great to have that extra space for Ellie to move around. So maybe if you can, if by chance the flight isn't full, see if you can get yourselves a row to yourself.
I'm still adjusting to this FL weather so I think it has been gorgeous lately, and I would assume you'll feel the same. There have been a couple days in the 60s but coming from up there, that's still a delight! That said, I would still bring an assortment because it's hard to anticipate. Ellie mostly wears her summery outfits these days but on the "cold" days, she wears long sleeves and baby legs, and a jacket if we're going out. I think babybchbum's suggestions of layers is a good one. That's pretty much what we've been doing for all those in-between or borderline days. Sleepers have been another story - I cannot figure out how to dress her for bed, because if the weather is warm, the air is cranked up in our house (we're staying with my dad and he's a little A/C crazy) so it gets pretty chilly at night. Then on the actual chilly nights, he turns on the heat. So I generally dress her in lightweight sleepers with a sleep sack and hope that covers all the bases. So I would err on the side of cotton PJs.
As far as other things to pack, what about: bath supplies (shampoo/soap, etc), sun hat, favorite toys (although in our case, Ellie gets so excited about being a new place she doesn't care much about her toys, so I'd just bring a few), bibs, any sleep "comforts" (we take our travel Sleep Sheep everywhere), anything like that?

The sporadic weather situation has already been covered pretty well, but I'm in agreeance with layers and variety. As for the plane ride, I can't remember if you are still breastfeeding, but that was what always made plane rides easiest for me at that age. I'd nurse at takeoff, and he'd often fall asleep and sleep most of the plane ride. Other than that a few small toys lots of snacks and a snuggly blanket for the plane. I feel like I always overpacked baby stuff for while we were traveling with the kids when they were little babies and lots of it wasn't needed.

Funny story about feeding on a plane..... just remember the air pressure. When I was feeding D on our last flight, I took the bottle out of his mouth and was holding it sideways and the milk shot out and hit the guy across the aisle from us. I was mortified but he didnt even notice!
Anyways, def just bring a bunch of toys, a blanket cuz its freezing on the planes, snacks, more bottles than you need, a change of clothes just in case, even a shirt for you too. D threw up all of DH at the airport before we left.
For down here, don't bring too much. You can do laundry at your moms. Also remember that while it is warm outside, every place has AC so some places are freezing, so always bring a blanket/sweatshirt etc. when you go out.

Definitely. Mia decided to have blowouts on our last two flights, we had to strip her naked for take off on one, cover her with a blanket and then dress her when the seatbelt sign was turned off. Pretty sure H and I are pros at changing her across our laps now.
We are flying to NY on Wed with Amelia and this morning while H was pouring coffee into his cup he casually said "it's going to be ok for me to study on the plane right?" I swear to god it was almost the last thing he ever said to me
You should see how much I've packed for D already & I'm not even done yet. Part of the problem is that I dont know if his summer clothes fit him. I probably should have tried them on him. Too late, hes sleeping, so in the bag it goes.
We'll arrive in Fl around midnight tomorrow. Our cruise leaves Sunday for 4 days, after that I have no concrete plans. I'd love to do a play date if possible. Wait... Are you leaving for NY when I get back from the cruise??
