Regarding number one, it's hard to say wheth your current sprinkler system will cover more ground. Find out who the sprinkler system was put in by, and call them (the name/number will be on the control panel in the garage). Our system, for instance has to have a special "key" to change the water pressure, make it cover more/less ground. You stick the key in each sprinkler head and adjust as necessary. We had to call the sprinkler company to obtain the key.
Some heads have a knob that you can adjust (or twist) for more or less pressure or to cover more or less ground. You'll need to look at it, play with it (while the sprinklers are on, obviously) to determine if your current system is sufficient. If not, then yes, you'll have to supplement with an additional system or heads.
