DH and I had had a come to jesus talk last weekend about the amount of BS we have in our TINY house. We're now in full-throttle declutter mode and working on planning a garage sale.
I get the impression that I'm mostly talking to myself over here right now, but hopefully the traffic picks up!
My H was out of town this past week and my house has never been cleaner. It's amazing - he can undo all my work in a few minutes. He starts by leaving his suitcase in the kitchen for days.
I started a serious reorganization and cleaning effort in October and went full force until about April, when I'd covered most bases. I did notice that the cleaner my house got, the more respectful he was of trying to keep his clutter isolated.
the less stuff we have, the cleaner our house is, and the less effort we have to put in to keep it so. it's fabulous.
we could start "a thing a day" thread or something similar to check in and see how everyone is doing in their efforts to declutter. pop in and list the thing(s) you tossed that day. pat yourself on the back. all that good stuff.

I'm very minimalist and hate clutter. Somehow, all of our closets have become extremely disorganized and were, quite frankly, a complete mess. I've slowly been attempting to reorganize them and toss out all the crap we don't use. I still have a long way to go, but just seeing progress has felt great.

I like it. I know the novelty of not having a censor/filter is going to wear off soon... but I really want to call it "Daily Shit in the Can"

This is a good idea. iGoogle has something similar -- a virtual To-Do List that you can add and subtract things to.
I actually created a calendar for myself with one chore for each day, along with a few free/catch-up days. I'm not religious about following it, but it has been extremely useful in reminding me about some of the odder tasks that need to be done regularly.
I simply found a blank calendar template online, filled it in, and printed it out. I make changes as needed.

We're going through a big declutter at our house. We are drowning in kid toys. It's completely overwhelming, but we're making progress (and $$ from selling on CL - that keeps us motivated )

It pains me to say it, but I kind of need Jeff Lewis to just come in and throw all my shit away because I want to have the apt of a minimalist, but I am so not a minimalist

I love this idea. I have good intentions but poor follow through.
DH and I really need to declutter and hold a garage sale. We have a ton of shit and no where to put it! LOL. We have a little less than 1000 square feet and we are over flowing with stuff. That does not count the items we have in a storage locker. Ugh. I would love to have a garage sale but DH doesn't want to put in the effort, he wants to donate stuff.
