With the mindset right out of the 1600's I'd go out on a limb and say you shouldn't be passing said views on to any children. The whole notion that a male, biological child is the only way to "preserve a family bloodline" is kind of sickening. Maybe some fresh genetics is what said family tree could really benefit from..

You could just adopt a 5yo. I just did adopt a 5 yo (and his 4yo sister). And... there are soooooo many more that need loving homes!
This post annoys me on so many levels. My children ARE mine. I am their REAL mom. They have our name (along with their given names).
I understand about whack-a-doodle ILs. Mine were at first. They have no understanding of family beyond birthing. Now that DS and DD are with us, they have really, really come around though. BUT it was because we (the parents) took our stand.
