Should I go to individual company's websites to request quotes? Or call actual local agents?
Anyone have any experience with Geico? I did their online quote request and it was $100/MONTH savings. I carefully compared the coverage amounts I picked and I think everything is the same as what I have now, but will double-check again. Seems impossible. TIA
You might want to try www.selectquoteautoandhome.com/GetStarted.aspx. They price compare most, if not all, of the A and A+ rated home and/or auto companies and tell you who comes in cheapest. I am saving $600 switching to metlife. I don't have any personal experience but I have heard (can't remember where) that their claims department isn't so great. I could be wrong, though.

I've had Geico, and had no problems with them.
A local agent can be helpful, but beware that they will not be able to quote for all insurance companies. You would still need to get quotes for any direct writers like State Farm, Allstate, Amica, Geico, Progressive, etc. I guess it's possible that some of them might get quotes for all companies, but there isn't much motivation since they don't make commissions from those companies.
