I recently switched my 4 cats to Wellness dry. I have 2 cats that are special needs, so I'm having to tweak my food plans again.
Coco - History of Bladder stones, just had large thyroid tumor removed last week. Still hyper-T, but levels are dropping. Lost tons of weight from hyper-T and needs to gain some back (5 lbs in less than 6 months loss). Will not eat prescription foods.
Makani - 25 lb big cat. Needs to lose weight. Would rather starve to death than eat canned food.
Kali and Sadie - Healthy cats, healthy weights. Will eat whatever I give them.
We've been free feeding for years, but obviously that isn't going to work anymore. I need to find a food (or foods) to help one gain weight, another lose, and 2 others stay healthy. Any suggestions?
The only thing that worked to help my old cat lose weight was wet food and portion control. You should be able to keep the cats on the same food, but you will need to stop free feeding, feed the pudgy kitty a measured amount in a seperate room and supplement the underweight kitty with extra treats.
