I have a friend that is truly a "crazy coupon lady". I'm not that bad, but since I've been home and we get the Sunday paper delivered anyway, I decided to give it a try. I don't spend too much time on it, but I have managed to save quite a bit of money the past couple of weeks on things I would have bought anyway.
Today's Target trip:
$10.99 Hormel party tray for Sunday $1.97 Target Shave Cream $3.29 half gallon of ice cream $2.39 Target brand cold medicine
Total: $18.64 Paid: $9.14
Last week I went to CVS, bought 2 bags of All pods, a 12 pk of Coke, some iced tea, deodorant and a razor for something like $9.00 too.

Great job!! I started getting the Globe on Sundays just for the coupons... & trying to match up with sales before I head to the grocery store. At Stop & Shop alone, I have saved $130 in a month!
I'm not really a big coupon person but I always seem to do really well at CVS. Between their sales and the rewards $ back, I can almost always save 30-50%.

I keep meaning to order the Sunday paper. Someone at work always brings in her leftovers and I feel I could save a lot with the toiletry stuff alone (toothpaste, razors, etc)
My problem is more than half the time the house brand is cheaper than the name brand even with coupons, so I don't end up using them as often as I thought when I clipped them.
Yup, us too. Every time I check out a flyer, the coupons are for things we don't keep in the house (soda, frozen/junk food, etc.), or things we buy in bulk (paper goods, toiletries, etc).
wildcatprincess - I almost never pay more than $2 for shampoo/razors/shave cream. I hate spending money on those things. I do buy shampoo at Costco for myself, but for H and DD I just buy what's free/cheap with coupons. I have enough razors to last us a year
Target is a good place to check for coupons - they often have coupons to save money on top of their Up&Up/other store brand prices. I got cold medicine for $1.39 yesterday. Also, they have coupons for Method. That is the one brand that I am always loyal to. I love their dish soap. I usually wait until it's 3/$8 and then use 3 $1 off coupons.

This was me, too, and I finally gave up on using them.
CVS is great, but their extra bucks expire before I remember to use them, and I don't plan ahead well. I used to get the Globe, but gave it up because I didn't really read it (read online instead) and didn't use the coupons that much.
