We have our home inspection tomorrow. We were supposed to be waiting until after the pest repairs were complete, but we were unable to do so because the sellers are taking their sweet time. Our RE indicates that he should get mortgage approval today (?!?) then we sign escrow documents on Monday, then close Tuesday, then an unknown period of time until we get the keys. Which is the most confusing part of the whole process. What? We don't get the keys at close?
Our house in Ohio was all "show up here at 5pm. Sign your life away. Here are the keys, enjoy your new house." This one is all "sign something every 3 days. Sign it again. Then sign something different. Oops, wait a bit, wrong form, sign THIS one. Show up here, sign now. Show up there, sign now. The keys are in the MAIL!" I don't know what's going on and I've never felt so out-of-the-loop on something that should be so SIMPLE. I have never *needed* a drink before. Now I understand why people say that. Ugh.
FYI - there is absolutely no purpose to this thread, but feel free to commiserate/hair pet/vent about something totally random/post a funny gif.

We wanted to schedule the inspection earlier but were advised to wait until pest repairs (which were all dry-rot related) were complete so the inspector could address the repairs that were made. Unfortunately, the sellers took SO long to do the pest repairs, we're now just under the gun to get it done and close on time.
We're aware of (probably) 95% of the issues that the inspector will find. The house is 150+ years old, there's not a lot that would surprise us/put us off.

Urgh, so I just heard back from the mortgage agent. We're going to have to file an extension and push close back to 02/08. She didn't receive some necessary documents (again, from the SELLER) until yesterday and the underwriter just couldn't get to it today, so the soonest we'll go to funding is Tuesday. SIGH.
Boo for pushing back closing. I hate sellers who can't get their shit together. You'd think they'd want to hurry up and get their money to get this thing off their books. Isn't it owned by the development company? Or something?
Boo on the extension. CA is weird about the closing and keys. Our buyers signed on a Monday or Tuesday evening so we didn't really own the home anymore but they didn't get keys and have responsibility for the house until Friday of that same week. It made me nervous to move out but still be responsible for the house.

Yep! And they've had it on the market for two years.
Honestly, you'd think that when they put it on the market that they'd be all "hmm, what are inspections going to find? What can we repair ahead of time during slow times?" But nope. We've even had to push back a re-re-appraisal twice BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T INSTALL CO DETECTORS. And despite having two weeks to do so, STILL haven't. Duh, it's LAW. And how hard is it, really? Heck, I'd do it myself if it meant we could close on time or even CLOSE to on time.
In Ohio, possession is negotiated as part of the purchase. If you agree to not take possession at closing then typically the seller pays the buyer rent until the agreed upon possession date. I would guess the higher percentage is possession at closing here.
My brother told me of an East Coast state where when you sell you HAVE to vacate by midnight the night of closing and from what he told me there can't be any variation, the buyer/seller cannot negotiate anything else. I found that both weird and hard to believe.
That's terrible. Do they really want to sell the house? Geez. I am sorry you are dealing with that. I found the home buying process extremely stressful. Good luck!
