I like it though, minus the upholstery, but that's fixable. You can buy a similar table for under $1500 at Ethan Allen, even cheaper if you look for sales elsewhere. Then I'd probably buy the chairs separately.
I like the table, and the cabinet is ok, but I don't like the chairs. They remind me of chairs you might see at a hotel free brunch buffet. And are 6 chairs enough? If you need a bigger table, I'm guessing you also want it to seat more people. Only having 6 chairs kind of renders the the leaves useless. And I agree that $2k is too high of an asking price. I would probably skip this; I bet you can find something you like better for this price (or less).
$2k seems like way too much for that. It's ok but not $2k worth of awesomeness. The chairs need recovered and it's just kind of "blah". I wouldn't pay more than $1000.
We were in the market for a dining set in 2011 and it took a few months to find one on craigslist that met our criteria. I ended up paying $700 for a really nice table set (2 leaves) 5 chairs with a cream colored seat and a really nice matching hutch. The owners were moving across country and downsizing so we lucked out. I would hold out for a while and see what pops up. The listing you posted will probably be online for quite a while at that price.
Nice set. Not a fan of the seat fabric. And TOTALLY overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than $750 for it, and that's only because it comes with a breakfront.
