Hey all. My birth story isn't that exciting.. BUT basically I went in to the doctor for my 38 week appt. on Monday, the 21st, and baby B was measuring, they thought, around 7 or 7.5 pounds. I was getting pretty uncomfortable so they told me if I made it to my next appt, they would strip my membranes to try and bring on labor. I was already around 3cm dialated though so they thought he might come before then. Well sure enough, that night, at 3:15am, I got up to go to the bathroom and as I was leaving the bathroom to return to bed, I felt what I guessed was my water breaking. It wasn't a huge gush so I was unsure and called the doctor, who told me I needed to go to the hospital and get checked out. I wasn't having any contractions yet so we took our time, I took a shower and we got our bags together and got to the hospital at about 4 am where they took me into triage to get checked out. I was 4 cm dialated at that point and in triage, I had my first contraction and vomited EVERYWHERE. Haha.. poor H, he was trying to clean me up and clean it up and calling for a nurse, etc. The contractions continued and they hurt like a B.. I continued getting sick so they took me into labor and delivery and got me my epidural only about 45 minutes after I first got to the hospital. Epidurals are the greatest things ever, in my opinion. I did not feel any more contractions and I was able to relax the rest of the time. We just hung out, watched tv, and spent time together waiting for my body to get itself ready. A few hours later I had dialated to 7cm, and then shortly after I was ready to go. I pushed for about an hour and a half, which was exhausting but not painful, and baby boy B was born, weighing 6 lbs 3 oz, 19 inches long, and perfect in every way. My husband and I feel very fortunate that everything went really as smoothly as we could have hoped for. Although I did need some stiches down there, I am getting better with each day and the soreness is almost all gone. Our baby boy is amazing and we are so happy. We have been home for a week now and getting into the swing of things as a new little family.
