Anyone have any recommendations? We have decided we want to go away for Presidents Day weekend, if possible, and want to go somewhere we can put my almost 6 year old in a ski school for a day or two (we have taken him to Pats Peak for lessons a few times, but that is the extent of his skiing at this point). A friend recommended Sunday River...any other thoughts? We don't care where it is, as long as it isn't more than 4 hours away from Boston (we love Stowe, so are looking there but I think we will have trouble with availability since it is such a busy ski weekend...)
Most big ski mountains will have a decent ski school. Bretton Woods (NH) is a GREAT family friendly resort. We are going to Okemo (VT) for Presidents' Day weekend. We were up at Sugarloaf a few weeks ago and it was great. I've heard Loon is very busy on the weekends, but some of the smaller NH mountains (Waterville, Cranmore, Gunstock, etc.) might be good options as well.
I used to work in the ski school at Smuggler's Notch and would recommend it for families. It's on the other side of the mountain from Stowe (Mt. Mansfield). However, it will probably be busy over the President's Day weekend.
We just went to SugarBush and stayed at Sugar Lodge. Ski school looked excellent for the kids, huge nice building and an entire separate area for them to learn, my husband did lessons and he had great instructors. Loved the Warren area and your about 1/2 hr to Waterbury and Montpelier.
