Her room used to be all cute. Crib in the center of one wall. Bookshelves on each side. Art above the shelves and a decal abover her crib. Opposite wall had her changing table and mirror. Corner had glider and toy box under a big window.
I discovered this morning, Rubes can reach out and touch the bookshelves from her crib. She'll be up and on them in no time. She can also reach the cords that were the nearest outlet. Her changing table while it makes awesome storage is a huge floor suck. I have a kid who actually likes to play in her room and she needs the floor space.
So I slid her changing table into the closet where I have floor space. Her bookshelves are now under the mirror. her leather ottoman toy box is to the side of the crib because it's low enough she'll never be able to climb it. Other side of the crib has her giant car racetrack.
The bookshelves and mirror are super cute. The rest of it is not D*R worthy scalewise. But it's functional, she can get toys on her own, stay out of the stuff I don't want her to be in and won't be hurting herself from her crib!
H made the poing it'll look better later this summer when she gets a big girl bed. Then I was even more sad. Child is not getting out of her crib...ever...lol. I fear that day!
Anyways, that's the longest lament in the history of the world about how my baby is now a big girl. I do love this stage. It just goes so fast!
Im right there. Ky just got a big girl bed last week (I posted pics earlier of her room, but dd'ed them because they were skewed, couldn't figure it out). We got rid of the crib and I actually sold it on Facebook. It was pretty sad!

I hope for your sake that you don't have to face that fear too soon. Our youngest scaled the crib at 15 months. Too young to plunk in a bed and have her stay put, and no way to keep her in a crib. It was hell.lol

Yeah. At 18 months Rubes actually LOVES her crib still. It's why I'm not busting her out any time soon even though she's the right age. She sleeps well in it, reads books in it, we have a general good routine with it. She won't lay in our bed at all, so I fear the transition and what it will do to my good sleeper.
That and the crib is the reason I shower and answer the phone in peace!
I will wait until she jail breaks on her own! Even if that's age 5.

We joke that our oldest would probably have stayed in a crib until college if we hadn't evicted her when we needed the crib for youngest daughter. Seriously. She is 32 and still sleeps in a teeny little ball in the corner of the bed. She's tiny and would fit for sure.lol
