I have been trolling Houzz but they all look the same (100% have white woodwork and furniture it seems like) after awhile.
What do you think of wall decals? Ugly? Cute? Where do you buy them? Can you just paint a mural instead?
I don't really know what I like or want other than we have this quilt: www.potterybarnkids.com/products/sophie-quilted-bedding/ And I will paint the walls the green color. Woodwork and bed are unstained oak. I have no furniture other than the bed.
I don't want it to look too babyish. I can sew curtains, etc. DD doesn't have anything in particular that she is super interested in to use as a theme. I want it to last until she wants a tween/teen type room.

I had some decals from Target in DD's old room. They were supposed to be removable, but they ended up being a pain to get off and they took the paint and primer off with them. I like them in nurseries, but I'm not too crazy about them in older kid's rooms. I've seen some cute ones on Etsy.
I love the quilt. It is one of the few bedding I have seen that would work great for a little girl or an older tween/teen.
I don't mind decals. I personally wouldn't use them because our walls are super textured, but if you find on you like, I don't see why not! I just finished up dd's big girl bedroom (I have recent pics on blog) and I really feel her room would suit her well until her very early teens. Have you ever seen Lay baby lay? Her mood boards are fabulous, and she finds the best Etsy artwork. That sight might be good inspiration for you if Houzz is falling short. I think it's www.Laybabylay.com

Being unable to get decals off was a concern of mine. You have convinced me, no decals.
Statler, that is exactly why I picked the quilt. And it was being discontinued so it was on clearance for less than target's quilts, so that helped too
I don't know what to hang on the walls (I guess nothing is an option) and I need to get some kind of bookshelf or bedside table or something. But I am totally uninspired. I don't like really girly fru-fru stuff, and I want any furniture to be able to last and not be outgrown, so nothing with princesses painted on it, etc.
I actually like wall decals in kids rooms. So easy to arrange as the room needs to be and not permanent so it can grow with them. I have never had an issue with not getting them off though. Herbergers or whatever its called where you live I noticed had some great bedding that was kid enough but would still grow.
I did Rubes' room in gingham and Polk a dots. Lime red and black for color with tan walls. Its growing well with her so far and when she's done I have neutral walls to do anything with once the decals come down.
I'll post a pic later today provided you ignore the stupid setup I have going on..lol
I love hanging framed quotes from children's books on walls.
Aesop's Fables "No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
— From "The Lion and the Mouse"
Charlotte's Web "'Why did you do all this for me?' he asked. 'I don't deserve it. I've never done anything for you.'
'You have been my friend,' replied Charlotte. 'That in itself is a tremendous thing.'"
Peter and Wendy (Also known as Peter Pan or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up.)
"You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That's where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting."
Oh, the Places You'll Go! "You'll get mixed up, of course, as you already know. You'll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go. So be sure when you step. Step with great tact and remember that Life's a Great Balancing Act. Just never forget to be dexterous an deft. And never mix up your right foot with your left."
The Secret Garden "Where you tend a rose, my lad, a thistle cannot grow."
8. “Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Listen to the don'ts. Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me ... Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”
I second those !@#&)@! decals I had them up in my sunroom for DDs party and when they came off, so did huge patches of paint on the sheetrock. She actually has some in her room too...they're probably going to be up there until she moves out LOLOL.
DD is 4 and I'm hoping that this room will also last into her tween years. She picked the colors and they're certainly bright enough. How old is your DD? Artwork is the easiest thing, IMO to switch in and out as they get older. A simple nightstand will last forever...ours is H's old IKEA one that we painted to match her nursery. Same for the set of drawers that she has.
I prefer a stencil over a decal but only in small quantities like Wawa's birch tree stencil in the crib alcove.
I would look for a rug next. That will give you colors or patterns to pull out for the rest of the room. Design it like you would your own bedroom but add lots of fun little girl touches.
Are they sharing a room or are you using the same quilt in two rooms? There are a lot of inspiration pictures with the matching beds and a nightstand in between.

They are not sharing rooms. 3 years of sharing has put me at the endow my rope with bedtime theatrics and waking each other up at the butt crack of dawn.
I don't know if I should do a rug. It had beige carpet. I do actually have a hand me down rug, but the colors aren't perfect. I will try to dig it out of storage and take a picture of the rug and quilt next to each other.
I think I will do polka dot curtains, as close of a match to something in the quilt as possible. I need to decide if I want to make them blackout curtains, or get a separate shade. But if anyone has cute non-polka dot curtains that might age a little better, I am all for it. She do you guys shop for home dec fabric? Just in person at Jo-Ann's? If you order online how do you color match?
I am thinking I will go with some kind of mural or stenciling on one of the walls, but I don't know what. Off to go look.
My daughter is almost two and peels the decals off the walls. I've grown to dislike them and would prefer art or prints on the walls instead.
This exactly! I never thought my kids would peel the decals off the walls-- it never ever crossed my mind. Now I have 1/2 a tree left with some random hanging leaves and no branches. ^o) I do not like wall decals anymore.
