San Clemente, CA

DH and I are attending a wedding early October in the San Clemente, CA area. We are thinking about making a vacation out of the trip. Any thoughts on where to stay, things to do, places to visit, restaurants, etc?

San Clemente would be a fun place to visit. I can't recommend hotels since I live about a mile from San Clemente. There are a ton of awesome restaurants in the downtown area that are really good. Some of my favorites are South of Nicks, Nicks, Thai Paradise, The Shore, Italian Cravings, and Iva Lee's.

As far as things to do its beach, beach and more beach. If you want to get away from the beach you could visit the mission and downtown of nearby San Juan Capistrano. Visit the marina in Dana Point or head up the hwy 1 to Laguna Beach. It's about 15 miles to laguna and 20 to downtown Laguna.

I would also check out the forums on trip advisor.

Check out Casa Tropicana Inn in San Clemente. Beautiful and right on the water. There website is casatropicana.com
