You should share your ideas with the New York Times! I clicked on this article thinking it had budget ideas for Sweden (DH recently decided he wants to rent a tree house there, but I killed the idea when I saw the 400 Euro/night price tag). Instead, he's ASKING for budget ideas.
For some reason this really bugs me. I wish I had a gig writing for the NYT where I could just ask the world to provide me with the stuff I was going to write about.
I feel like travel writers should be the ones making the effort to find these things out and then sharing them with the world, rather than just rehashing details that have been spoon-fed to them by others.

100% agreed. It's one thing to ask for input or a couple tips and use your network, it's another to ask other people to put your whole story together for you.
