I hope my living room pic didn't kill the snark. Feel free to express opinions. This color has had an unfortunate association w/cafeterias, hospitals, and institutions. I knew it was a bold choice.
FWIW, it's a little overwhelming on my walls. I'm hoping to add picture frame molding to the walls and paint the borders (or the inside of the squares) a more neutral soothing color (maybe a softer green). I was also thinking of brightening the vibe w/canary or buttercream yellow.

I saw the BM color of the year is lemon sorbet:
That's almost exactly what our rental house is painted in.
As for SW Aloe, I like it in a room like this (but don't like the coral chairs with it)...
But I don't like aloe when in a room without all those windows (darker) and don't like it paired with brown or dark furniture/floors like this room... singbyrde.smugmug.com/photos/92268049-L.jpg
I don't like the lemon sorbet...at least not for myself.
If they wanted the aloe to look 'new', they shouldn't have paired it with 80s salmon with a new name. I would pair it with coral...like more red, bolder color.
I hope that we aren't going to be surrounded with pastel 'baby'/ice cream colors. Did we not learn anything from the 80s/miami vice? ;p
SW, if you're going to do a color of the year, DO ONE. Don't half ass Pantone's.
In typical Susie stalker fashion, I love this.
however I dont mind the aloe color. On the other hand, I think this color of the year shit is stupid for decor. I feel like its one thing for a piece of clothing in your seasonal wardrobe, but this is all a stupid marketing scam to sell more paint.
LOL. The announcement did come via email with a 25% off coupon.
oops simpsongal I think your livingroom looks nice with all the dark wood grounding the room.
The top picture took me back to the 80s way too much like TBM was saying. My granny had a bathroom that color with a swan shaped light on the vanity also the aloe color. The TP was coral colored. They don't do colored tp anymore do they? I totally forgot about that until just now!
Hehe, yeah not diggin' the coral and aloe. I would think a jewel tone purple would look better. Or emerald. I have an inspiration pic from an old cover of Martha Stewart Living. I'm hoping yellow looks good in the room. I don't really have the budget to change a lot in that room right now, so I just tolerate it for now.
I like it too. My LO's first nursery was painted a color similar to Aloe. Then we moved her to the other bedroom (warmer, not as drafty) and that room color is similar to Lemon Sorbet! Look at me go!
I agree about pairing Aloe with the redder orange of coral, vs. the salmon pink of the 80s and early 90s.
Lemon Sorbet would look nice paired with a cobalt.

I was not expecting that color to be named Aloe. I like it better than the emerald and the BM yellow, but I think it is a little boring. Reminds me of my current bathroom color.
