Sweet!! I thInk we looked at 10. We needed 2 bathrooms, a screened room, a fenced yard, a 2 car garage, and no pool, with a budget so we had limited choices in decent neighborhoods. We got our keys probably within 3 months of starting out search. We were all business.

It took us what felt like forever. We had a budget and wanted to close within a few days. We were staying with my brother between selling and trying to find a new house, who wouldn't allow our 3 dogs inside of his house, so they had to stay in crates in his garage.
I think it took us a month to find something, it was right as the market was crashing/the boom and it was hard to find something that wasn't 2 beds or extremely old and I didn't want to have to do the reno thing again.

We looked at about 6 houses before we found out Chris was being transferred to the Tampa district.. after that we knew we'd move to Hbeach and have my dad build for us.
We were renting and not in the market for a house. One day we were driving along, saw a house that was just put on the market and I said "hey we should buy a house, what do you think?" We weren't even married/engaged at the time so buying a house was a huge step, LOL
About 12 hours later we had a contract on that house.
However, we are planning on moving to Corpus Christi around the end of this year so we are starting our house search early. I know the exact neighborhood I want to move to. It's very nice, clean, and great for families. However, hardly any houses are on the market in said neighborhood. So our plan is, get our current house in selling order and wait for the right house in Corpus to go on the market, then sell. I am sooooo looking forward to getting out of the shithole town I live in.

Kathy, We are in the same boat. The neighborhood we want to move to has 2 homes on the market at our budget. So we will look in the surrounding areas too.

Good luck with the house hunting! We started seriously looking with our relator about 1 month before we put an offer on our house, probably saw 15 houses?
We closed and moved in to our house just over 2 months after we first started looking. It was funny, the house we ended up buying was one of the houses we saw on the first day we started looking with our realtor but since it was listed at the higher end of our price point we kept looking at first but kept coming back to this house!

Okay. Didn't find THE house today. Looking again tomorrow at 2 more. I'm thinking this is going to be a loooong process. I'm starting to decorate a nursery at our house. I would love to be in a new house/neighborhood when the baby comes, but Im not sure well find THE house by then.

Are you guys staying in the same general area (don't want to be too specific on the interwebz) or are you looking somewhere else?
When we were in MA we were looking for a good nine months. Anytime anything decent came up in our price range (in our desired towns) it would go so fast. Eventually we decided we were going to move down to FL, so we stopped looking.
Once we moved down here, we bought within 3 days of looking - granted we built and it was another six months before we moved in. Good luck in your search. It can be stressful and exciting at the same time.
