Feel free to add your own good stuff!
-I'm staining and polying the back doors and they look AWESOME!
-Did our taxes last night. They are SO complicated this year. (Two W-2s and SIX 1099s for us.) We feared we would owe big time, but we only owe $474! HOLY YES!
-DH just got a random $10/hr raise!
-I have a meeting in an hour for my second architect project as a sole proprietor. I feel like such a grown-up, maybe I can really do this have my own firm thing...

Bunny, I didn't know you were an architect! How did I not know that (other than I'm a forgetful fool)?
I'm afraid of our taxes. R is doing them this week so we know how much we owe, and I'm guessing it's a lot. Also ridiculously complicated due to taking a loss on our OH house, etc etc.
I finally talked R into skipping the engineered wood and going straight to hardwoods in the new house. R was all excited about the engineered stuff, but last night just decided it was worth doing right so as to only have to do it once. We may have to do one floor at a time (starting with the bedrooms/my office) due to $$, but they'll be legit. We're thinking finished-in-place at the moment. Now we have to join angies list and get some contractors out for quotes so R can decide whether it's worth his time to DIY.

Yesterday we brought online two new chemistry analyzer for our lab. It went really pretty smooth. I was worried it would be the worst day ever but I actually had a great day. I loved getting the chance to run the new analyzer. I went to advanced training on them. DH was awesome and brought me soda and chocolate when he got off work too Today has been good but I need to head and take a nap soon. I got up too early this morning because I had to get blood drawn. I'm working a making a custom phone case so I'm distracted at how sleepy I actually am.
I got rid of Rubes' changing table. It was a SIL handmedown. Rubes learned to climb it after I hid it in her closet even, so it had to go. While I was thinking about what to do with it (shelving in E. students room. They won't know the difference). SIL randomly texted me and asked if I wanted to ditch it because a coworker could use it. Score. Out of my house. I'll never miss it for future kid anyways. I only used it becuase I had it!
We go to finish up our taxes tomorrow. I'm scared. But H is also taking me to lunch and getting me a plant for V-day for that table I posted about the other day.
If it makes you feel better Bunny...I sent out 26 1099 forms! Anyone I ever did business with gets one these days!
I'm terrified of our taxes. We might owe a nauseating amount. We are waiting on some etrade forms which apparently will come in mid feb, so I have another week of anxiety before the axe comes down.
I learned about two people today doing groundbreaking work in a related field. Their methods and aproach got my wheels spinning about a long-term project me and collaborators are planning. It was like a lightning bolt of inspiration and the path forward seems so much clearer to me at this point! I shot of some possibly over-excited emails this morning, and im eagerly watching for replies.
Nice Bunny - you are superwoman! How is the baby doing???
I actually ordered new sleepwear as I was really tied of the rattty crap that I currently sleep in. My order came today and I love everything! I also ordered some new beauty products from Ulta and that came today as well. I need to back away from my laptop...NOW!

Well that's awesome news! I'm seriously in love with the way our floors have turned out. A huge pain and mess to do but they are so unbelievably perfect and smooth. We originally wanted to buy the wood and install it ourselves and have someone else sand and finish it but holy cow was that not cost effective. I was getting quotes from +$4500 (for 700 sf) just to sand and finish the floors! Compare that to our DIY expenses which were $100 in sander rentals, $300 in poly, $100 in supplies, and a week's worth of tough smelly work. We wanted oil based poly though which few refinishers still use but were willing to do if we paid extra.

Dave's- Mina is great! Good eater, good sleeper. She been smiling lately which is adorable!
Fox- where did u rent your sander from? When we sanded the back porch the materials (sanding pads, etc) and rental were much more from Home Depot/lowes.
We rented the sander and bought the sandpaper from a contractor rental place. They don't normally deal with a lot of non-contractors but we used them to rent equipment for the concrete floor grinding in the garage. We like using them because you can pick up on Friday afternoon and drop off Monday morning for the price of one day rental since most contractors are renting just during the week. The big orbital sander and floor edger were $80 and the sandpaper was another $20...some of which I returned and got a few bucks back on. We ended up not even using the floor edger and just using our palm sander because it could get in the corners better with the square corners.
Our HD had comparable prices but they charged for each day. They did rent a buffer though which would have saved me some time but I was nervous it might take off all of the poly so I sanded it by hand and with the less aggressive palm sander between each layer of poly. We don't have any Lowes in our area. : (
