I'm a "no drinking or pills during the 2ww" type. After more than a year of this, it's starting to get to me. It makes it all the worse to not have an occasional drink or an advil for the early cramps, or no nyquil if I'm sick, etc. Then comes the disappointment. I've been really ill three cycles during the luteal phase (stomach flu, flu, etc.) I don't know if I should just drop alcohol altogether.
Anyway, what do you do? Any dietary changes you've made?

I cut down my drinking so much last year (none in the 2ww etc) that now I can't even have a beer because I get drunk! I'm a complete lightweight. I probably had 5-7 drinks max last year - we have saved a ton of $$ thanks to this!
Last year I would still have a drink CD 1-0 but since the new year I have been on a (prep for) IVF diet overhaul - no gluten, dairy, caffeine, definitely no alcohol. I used to have stomach issues and they have all gone so I'm pretty sure I have some intolerances in there. I will gradually add stuff in to identify it after IVF. I also cut out diet soda etc before the holidays which was a weakness of mine.
I know that a ton of people do IVF without this diet thing but as I'm unexplained, I'm willing to try everything and I am going by the "no regrets" point of view. I don't want to feel I could have done more if IVF doesn't work.
ETA - If I were not going through medicated cycles I would just continue to live as normal which is what I did all last year - ate crap, diet cokes, Excedrin whenever I needed one etc.
I quit drinking once we started TTC minus very few times when I would have 1/2 glass of wine. DH mostly quit drinking along with me and loves how much better he feels not drinking. We were a "glass of wine with dinner every night" couple.
I found it hard at first because the only thing I drink during the day is water. More water gets BORING. So I added flavored water and juice.
I really don't know what to do with my Ambien, since nothing OTC like unisom will work and my insomnia is so bad I won't sleep for days. I just can't fall asleep at night period. And then I end up with Migraines. I'm doing everything I can to wean myself off of it or to only need a very low dose. My PCD says to just stay on it even though he knows we are TTC. I've been told once I become pregnant, I'll be able to fall asleep a lot more easily. We shall see.

From starting TTC to starting IF treatment, I was a no/very little drinking, nothing but Tylenol, reduced caffeine during 2WW. When we started treatment cycles (IUI then IVF) I stopped drinking all together, cut all caffeine, used Tylenol only sparingly and ate pretty well the entire time. I also stopped all strenuous exercise during 2WW of my IUIs and then was put on 30 min of light walking per day only from Lupron to the end of first tri by RE for IVF. I will likely do this again when we do FET or additional IVF.
Right now I am not cycling at all, so I am drinking, Advil-ing and caffeine-ing it up. I am eating well but that's only because I'd like to lose some meds/pregnancy induced weight. I am strenuously exercising every day that I can.
That's very interesting. I ate avocados like crazy during my IVF cycle because there is a salad I love at the place next door to work that is avocado-heavy and I craved it constantly. Our IVF was successful BFP/implantation-wise.
I'm on metformin so alcohol can upset my stomach, but I don't care. I still drink. I try not to if I'm in week 2 of the 2ww but even around ovulation I don't care. I don't get drunk though, I try to limit to 1 or 2 drinks. And I don't take my pills while drinking, I take them before or when I get home after.
I think your fine to have a drink here and there. Sometimes you need a good margarita to help relax
I don't really drink much anyway (especially now that I'm trying to lose weight). I take the meds I need to if I'm not feeling well, but all my meds are pretty much pregnancy safe anyway. The only one I've even considered it limiting caffiene.
My RE told me to cut the carbs when I started going to him, so I pretty much overhauled my eating habits and am super healthy now. I like to think it has worked well, because when I started with him my left ovary was tiny and not working, and six months later it's bigger and I ovulated on that side! I don't drink or take pills pretty much at all since starting IF treatments. Although I have a feeling I'll be picking up a bottle of wine next week when I get a BFN from this IUI.
