We finally closed on our new house this week and I'm wondering the order to do some things in. We need to put new wood flooring in, redo some wood flooring, take down some wallpaper, paint pretty much the whole interior and then add some carpeting. Would you do all the wood flooring first, then painting and then carpet? Different order? Thanks!
We're closing in two weeks and we're having the wood floors refinished first since they will need to be sanded which will spread dust everywhere. Then we are having the painters come in, since they need to prep the walls anyway (former owner was a smoker, so we have to wash with that TSP stuff and prime). The painters can use drop cloths to protect the floor. I am too worried something will happen and the walls won't be dry enough and the sand dist will stick.
If I wasn't living in the space, I would do the wallpaper, then the floor, then paint. If I was going to have to live there while doing it, I would have the floors done before moving in and protect the floors while doing the other work.
