His big day is the 19th. Due to having a crappy family, he associates birthday with "bad". Due to having an awesome family, I associate birthday with "celebrate!". I am trying to bring him to the fun side Since it's close to the 3-day weekend, I suggested we do one day together, one day more us as a couple (maybe just dinner), and one day where he can be on his own and not feel guilty.
So for our family day, does anyone have any ideas of someplace close, warm/indoors, and fun we could go with an almost 3yo? I know this may be tough, coming at the beginning of the school holiday weekend.

Oh god. The main problem is that everything will be insane here because it's a long weekend and school vacation week. Are you on the Minuteman Library system? If so I'd log on and see what they have for passes that day.
What about the aquarium? I used to bring the kids I nannied for in college all the time and the loves it. I also second the museum of science. Or the children's museum by the seaport!

Just FYI the aquarium is under construction. The main tank is empty and they've relocated a lot of the fish from the big tank to the penguin pits. The penguins aren't currently on premises at all.
Museum of Science is also a bit rearranged. The upper part of the green wing is closed.
Maybe look into play spaces near you? Any kid gyms or anything? Or going out to eat. Bakery cafe for breakfast or something. C loves the rainforest cafe. A movie?
