OMG. I got mine put on today and I HATE them!!! I'm doing it mostly for cosmetic reasons--the orthodontist said they weren't necessary and I feel like going back tomorrow and getting them taken off. I have clear ones and they feel HUGE and are rubbing against the inside of my mouth. I also have a "turbo" or something behind my two front teeth and it's making it so I can't speak clearly. This sucks. Someone please tell me it gets better and it will be worth it.
I don't have them but DH has had them since last April, I hear ya on their suckiness He got the non-clear ones (ugh...), they hurt his mouth and really affect his self-confidence (which usually isn't that great anyway, unfortunately). He was only supposed to have them on until January but when he went to the appointment to get them taken off, the ortho discovered a piece had broken off in the back, so now he has to wear them until MARCH. Ughhh. I hope yours get better!
You really will get used to them, I promise!! The first couple of months were awkward, but I have had them for 1.5 years and forget I even have them at all.
Thanks I just feel really self-conscious too since that piece behind my front teeth is making me lisp and I feel like my smile looks awkward and different. My back teeth don't even come down together (because of the thing behind my front teeth which needs to stay there for 5-6 months) so I don't know how I'm going to eat? The ortho said I'll be eating lots of yogurt and soup, but that sounds shitty for that long of a time. Wah wah. I'll stop bitching now

Yes you'll be eating lots of soups & yogurts. Bonus - weight loss! I was so thin!
I have them right now. They were supposed to come off either last June or September, then it was pushed to December, then January. I'm now scheduled to have them off later this month. I've had them for 2 years.
You'll be used to them in about a week. I didn't have the bite thing but I had a random lisp for a few months. It would happen at random times. If you feel that you need braces, they'll be worth it!
